A majority online believed that it was basic movie etiquette not to interrupt the flow and ruin other’s experience who came to watch the actual singers perform. On the other hand, others remarked singing in unity created an atmosphere of harmony and allowed people to fully enjoy the show.
However, The Rock has a simple solution to the huge argument but his unpopular opinion may slight a demographic of the audience. During the UK premiere of his upcoming animated film withAuliʻi Cravalho,Moana 2,Dwayne Johnsondelivered his two cents on the discussion (via BBC).

Sing! You’ve paid your hard earned money for a ticket, and you’ve gone into a musical, and you’re into it. Sing.
TheSkyscraperstar revealed that he did not mind people expressing themselves during screenings, he sided with the minority’s opinion. Johnson explicitly encouraged the movie-goers to sing since they paid for their tickets and so deserve the right to enjoy musicals fully.

Sadly, this ruins the show for those who came to listen only to the professionals on screen.

The AMC Theatre even issued a warning regarding the same, advising viewers to maintain decorum and refrain from joining in the chorus. Spokesperson Ryan Noonan stated these policies were necessary to ensure a fair movie-viewing experience for all (via Vanity Fair).

But people who were hoping to belt out with their favorite witches need not worry because the film is scheduled for a special screening. According to a report byVarietyseveral North American theatres would hold a sing-along screening of Wicked from 25 December, where fans can join Glenda and Elphaba in the songs.
