If I had a nickel for every ChineseSoulslikethat features a spear-wielding, white-robed sage as animpossibly difficultsecret boss to unlock a true ending, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice.
Wuchang: Fallen Feathersfeatures Eternal Glory as its secret boss fight, and with his relentless spear attacks and powerful magic, it’s not hard to compare the White-Robed Elder withBlack Myth Wukong’sErlang, the Sacred Divinity.

8 Final Boss Fights That Are Actually Optional
The final boss in a game is usually the end point, right? Well, what if it didn’t have to be? Let’s check out.
Eternal Glory, or Zhao Yun, is perhaps one of, if notthe hardest, bossinWuchang: Fallen Feathers, requiring you to be at the top of your game on top of having the best builds you could manage. If you still haven’t gotten used to the combat mechanics and have developed passable skills in this game, thengood luck trying to make a dent in this boss’s health bar.

This boss fight demands at least a powerful build that can outpace his onslaught, and fighting him is an ordeal not for the faint of heart. Here’s a guide on how to make beating Eternal Glory a possibility inWuchang: Fallen Feathers.
Warning: Mild story spoilers ahead!
Where To Find Eternal Glory
Eternal Glory is a boss fight made available only if you’ve closely followed theWhite-Robed Elder’s questlineand made it to the endgame in Chapter 5, which requires you to have unlocked the Bo Capital and be ready to face off againstFeathery Ambition.
It’s important to note that the exact conditions of making Eternal Glory are not clear. However, I was able to access Eternal Glory after following the above conditions. I can’t say with absolute certainty that any deviations will lock you out of this boss fight.

As a secret boss, Eternal Glory can be found at the Tomb in Mt. Zhenwu, with Avian Dwelling as the closest shrine.
From the Avian Dwelling shrine, turn left and cross the felled logand past the two cowering men. Veer a little to the left, and you’ll find another wooden path, where you might find a bamboo shoot running away from you (if you haven’t already picked it up).

Cross the path and enter the cave, which leads to a vast plain covered in white flowers.
Assuming you’ve already completed the White-Robed Elder’s questline, i.e., you’ve beaten theBo Sorcererand talked to him to receive the Tigraliz Pendant, you’ll find him where you last saw him.

At the very end of the arena sits Eternal Glory, who will begin the fight with a sip of his gourd.
Preparations For Eternal Glory
Eternal Glory is a ridiculously tough fight that leaves you very little space to breathe, perhaps even tougher thanCommander Honglanand her rematch asVermillion Feathers. Here’s a build that I used to beat him:
Astral Blade
Jade Pendants
Unknown Meat
Sun Pendant
Kylin Pendant
Ethereal Form
Crimson Edge Incantation
Echo of Honglan
Echo of Lu Bingzhang
Manna Vase
Temperance
Aurum Feather
Zhenwu Temple Elixir
Temperance Bone Needle
Notable Impetus Repository Perks
Biding Time,Alacrity,Fury of the Skyborn, Unbroken Focus,Rapid Temperance, Energetic
As far as I can tell, Eternal Glory deals Stab, Slashing, Fire, and Ice damage.
Because his most problematic attacks come from his relentless swipes with his spear,I would recommend leaning into armor that reduces physical damage, like the Centipede armor set from theBlightweaverboss.
I went with a high-risk, high-reward play style by trading my empty armor slots for increased damage via the Unknown Meat Pendant. You don’t have to do that if you don’t want to go for the “all or nothing” approach.
I usually have a more laissez-faire approach with builds. This time I’m going to be a lot stricter with optimization, so let’s start with the build, which is aMagic build.
While I’m usually a huge proponent of theOP longsword buildand will swear up and down that this build is unbeatable,Eternal Glory is perhaps the only boss whom this build struggles with,as he seems to have some damage reduction to physical attacks. I was barely able to deal any meaningful damage to him with my Lashing Whip before he sliced me to ribbons.
Still, if you’re more partial to melee builds, then the longsword build can still hold strong, as long as you’re good at dodging his constant attacks. For this guide, I’ll be focusing more on the Magic build, but will be giving other playstyles some tips too.
Naturally, you’ll want tomax out your Manna Capacity and Manna Potency as you can muster, and preferably max out your Skyborn Stacks to five.
Of course, you’ll also wantTemperanceequipped, focusing on increasing as much Feathering and Spell damage as you can, using the Magic Bone Needle along with the Stone needles that increase Temperance duration, Temperance damage, and Feathering damage.
I recommend Aurum Feathers as one of your consumables, asthey give you a random buff like increased max health, stamina, damage resistance, and damage boost.
Your last item can also be an extra healing item, but I would personally recommend stocking up on Plumed Branches by farming your Inner Demon.
To best farm your Inner Demon, simply find the closest Shrine, fill up your Madness gauge, and jump off the nearest ledge. When you respawn, yourInner Demonwill be nearby, who isguaranteed to drop a Plumed Branch. Rinse and repeat until you have as many Plumed Branches as you need, preferably at least three per attempt against Eternal Glory.
Jade Pendantsare also important. You’ll want to maximize your Spell power and Feathering damage as much as you may, soSun Pendant,Crimson Pendant (interchangeable with Kylin Pendant), and Crane Pendant would be helpful here.
If you’re going for the high-risk, high-reward naked approach (no armor), then Unknown Meat from beating Feathery Ambition gives you a 27% damage boost. Additionally, you may also put on the Bravery Pendant for an approximate 30% damage boost when at full health.
For a magic build, we’ll be using aone-handed swordand focusing on its skill tree. Spec primarily into Magic and Feathering, and dump the rest on Vitality and Endurance, in that order.
Let’s take a look at our weapon, the one-handed sword Astral Blade, which is best suited for spellcasting. While we’ll primarily be using Feathering spells, Astral Blade’s spell power gives your spells an extra boost, along with its passive that gives your Spells a boost when you use Temperance.
However,Plumed Graceis also a valid weapon, as its passive lends you a little bit of survivability while having slightly better overall stats while leaning towards Feathering. The only downside is that it’s an endgame weapon that you can only acquire by beating Feathery Ambition. Both are equally decent weapons to use for your magic build.
Still, Astral Blade’s weapon skill,Awakening Seal, gives you extra Biding Time stacks while increasing your spell power.
If you’re going for the longsword build,I would not recommend parrying Eternal Glory’s attacks.Despite him being human and wielding a weapon, he’s strong enough not to be stopped by parries, and can only be briefly interrupted by counterattacks.
The main bread and butter of this Magic build is a couple of spells that deal a ton of Feathering damage: Echo of Lu Bingzhang and Echo of Honglan.
As long as you may lock on your target,Echo of Lu Bingzhang has unlimited range, allowing you to snipe at your enemies from a distance.
Meanwhile, Echo of Honglan has a quick dash and fires homing feathers that deal a considerable amount of damage, though the recovery speed can make you exposed to Eternal Glory’s attacks.
The third spell slot is flexible, but I would suggest Divine Ward to increase your survivability, or Echo of Xuanyangzi if you want some more variety in your attacks.
I haven’t tested Echo of Xuanyangzi’s effectiveness during my fight against Eternal Glory, but it was quite effective in dealing with smaller human bosses like Nightmare Demon.
Melee-focused builds can use any buffing spell likeDivine Might or Echo of the Bo Magus for shields.
Regardless of your build,Ethereal Form is a must-have.Costing only a stack of Skyborn Might, this spell gives you a three-second buff that automatically evades any attack while refunding that stack and then some. There have been times when I spent one stack to evade and receive a max stack of Skyborn Might after a boss’s combo.
Because of how powerful Ethereal Form is, there is a possibility that it may be nerfed some time after release. This will be updated accordingly.
The only downside to Ethereal Form is that it’s hard to control in which direction you’ll dodge, and if you’re fighting a small enemy, the smokescreen that appears from the evade can obscure your vision, making it harder to read the enemy’s attacks.
ForBenedictions, build around effects that activate when gaining Skyborn Might. The following Benedictions are rather useful for this build:
Bu - Skyborn Ward:Skyborn Might reduces damage taken for a time.
Shi - Blood Ward:Taking damage reduces the damage you take for a time.
Sheng - Skyborn Rejuvenation:Gaining Skyborn Might endows your attacks with life leech for a very short moment.
Sheng - Lasting Alacrity:Extends the duration of damage avoidance when triggering Alacrity.
Wei - Skyborn Force:Increases your damage during Skyborn Might.
Wei - Skyborn Magic:Skyborn Might increases your Spell damage for a time.
You may notice more than one Benediction per slot, which means they are interchangeable with very little noticeable differences.
Eternal Glory Moveset
First Phase
When you first enter the arena and trigger the boss fight, Zhao Yun will be sitting at the very far end, taking a sip from his gourd before slowly walking towards you.
If he gets close enough,he’ll charge at you with his spear before lunging with a grab attack.
His attacks will then become incredibly fast and chaotic, swiping at you and thrusting with his spear. He’ll also spin with his spear several times, making it difficult to land a clean melee hit on him.
He can also bring his spear overhead and slam you with it, knocking you down and dealing a great deal of damage. He also has a similar move to Dhutanga, where he digs his spear into the ground to deal an explosive burst of damage from the dirt.
Among his spear attacks,he’ll also leap high in the air in one of two ways:he can either throw balls of flames that surround him and leave behind burning grass (that can damage you), or plunge his spear into the ground to summon three consecutive and expanding rings of icy spikes.
Zhao Yun is unstoppable, andcannot be stunned by most attacks. Most of his attacks also damage in all directions, which makes backstabbing almost impossible.
Whether or not you’re good at reading his moves, his relentless onslaught makes it incredibly difficult to find openings, and this doesn’t get any easier in the second phase.
Second Phase
Once you get Eternal Glory to half health, he’ll summon a sword in his offhand and swing in all directions, dealing immense slashing damage in a wide radius around him.If his spear isn’t already terrifying enough, he now has two weapons in his arsenal.
On top of the attacks in the first phase,Zhao Yun can now summon ghostly vestiges of his soldiers, who mirror his attacks after most of his spinning spear attacks.
He can also briefly draw his sword again and slash in all directions again, or if you’re far away from him, he can start slicing the air and sending forth waves of windblades in quick succession. These windblades have a surprisingly long range, so ensure to keep running when he does that.
How To Beat Eternal Glory
Eternal Glory is the ultimate skill test, and beating him is no easy feat. However, I managed to find a specific strategy to give you a fighting chance against him by exploiting the tools the game has given you.
First, you’ll want to make sure you haveat least 50% Madness, which activates Fury of the Skyborn and discounts the cost of your Echo spells by one Skyborn stack.90% Madness is recommended,as it activates Unbroken Focus and ensures that your Biding Time stacks don’t go lower than three.
Beating Eternal Glory will require plenty of preparation. Before you begin your fight, make sure you have at least four stacks of Skyborn Might. You can either farm some Biding Time stacks or simply wait for your Skyborn Might to fill up, or use one Plumed Branch.
Use your Magic Temperance and then trigger the boss fight.Walk forward a little until you can lock on to Eternal Glory, who may still be in his slow animation.
Start throwing Lu Bingzhang spears at Eternal Glory while slowly backing away.As long as you have him locked on, these spears have infinite range. If you have enough Feathering damage, you’re able to easily take out 10% of his health with each snipe.Use Plumed Branches when necessaryto refill Skyborn Might stacks.
If you plan this just right, you’ll have taken out at least 40% of his health bar before he gets close enough to charge at you,if not more.
The only way that you can realistically survive his attacks, other than dodging every one of them perfectly, is toconstantly activate Ethereal Form. While that buff is active, Zhao Yun’s attacks can very quickly refill your Skyborn Stacks.
Keep dodging his attacks. His spear lunge and his jump attacks leave him the most exposed, so use that opportunity to use your best spells, especially Echo of Honglan. If you’re feeling fancy, you may activate it right as he attacks to trigger Alacrity, giving you extra i-frames to avoid his attacks.
Spam dodges and spells, and eventually you’ll get him to half health. He’s relentless, but when he’s casting his wind attacks like his big sweep or summoning his soldiers, that’s the perfect opportunity to attack.
Stay as far away from Eternal Glory as much as you can, and use that distance to your advantage by spamming your two main spells. Eventually, even this formidable foe will fall to your attacks.
Congratulations–you’ve finally beaten Eternal Glory, and have triumphed against one of the toughest bosses inWuchang: Fallen Feathers. On top of the following rewards, you now have the opportunity to acquire the True Ending:
To receive his Loyalty armor set, simply Enter the Dream at the nearby shrine that spawns and then use the Worship emote on the tomb right next to you.
