Git a little gud.
But not all spells are created equally, and some are certainly stronger than others. We’ll be looking at both the spells you find in the world and the Echo spells that you acquire from defeated bosses, and will beranking them based on how useful they are during the heat of combat.
Here are the top 12 best spells inWuchang: Fallen Feathers.
To make the most out of Echo spells, you’ll need to have the “Fury of the Skyborn” perk, which discounts one Skyborn Might stack off every Echo spell.
Warning: Mild story spoilers ahead!
12Echo Of Dhutanga
Someone Cooked Here
Skyborn Might Cost
Spell Type
Description
Conjure a crescent-shaped spade of fire that sweeps forward, then press again to smash down, causing Burn buildup. Striking an enemy from behind opens them up for an Obliterate strike.
How To Acquire
Echo spell from Master Raider Dhutanga
Acquired fromearly-game boss Dhutanga, this Echo spell unleashes a single flaming attack on enemies at close range, stunning most smaller enemies and even potentially knocking them down.
It’s a great early-game spell that serves as a potential substitute for powerful heavy attacks. It deals decent fire damage and builds up the Burn status effect, which you can build with the right Pendants and Benedictions.

But the early game is the only time this spell truly shines, as its slow windup leaves you vulnerable to enemy attacks. It also supposedly staggers an enemy for an Obliterate attack, but this is rather inconsistent.
Echo of Dhutanga is a decent early-game spell with low Skyborn Stack costs if you have “Fury of the Skyborn” active, which makes it cost only one stack. Other than that, it gets power-crept by other spells on this list.

11Echo Of The Bo Magus
Hamster Ball Of Invincibility
Invoke the God of Shu to create a barrier around you that can withstand damage.
Echo spell from beating the Bo Magus boss.
Most Echo spells on this list are offensive spells that deal ridiculous damage, but Echo of the Bo Magus is more of a defensive spell, giving you a protective sphere that can tank three hits regardless of damage for a cost of four stacks of Skyborn Might.
With how frequently late-game bosses attack and how they can easily shred you to pieces,Echo of the Bo Magus is incredibly useful in case you mess up a dodge.Instead of getting knocked down, the sphere expands a little before it shatters on the third strike.

While you need to go out of your way to acquire this spell by fightingthe optional Bo Magus boss, the fight is surprisingly easy, making this reward not too difficult to come by despite its late appearance.
Echo of the Bo Magus should be a powerful spell in its own right, but is unfortunately overshadowed by the top defensive spell on this list.

10Golden Scepter
Shower Them With Magic
Summons a spiraling beam of light that hits enemies for Magic damage.
Follow the Storyteller’s questline and speak to him at the Bo Capital in Chapter 4.
Golden Scepter is a powerful late-game spell that allows you to pelt your enemies with nonstop magic for a few seconds.
If you invest enough points into Magic and build around spellslinging, thenyou can very easily shred through enemy health bars while mixing in some melee attacks.
The tracking on the projectiles is also surprisingly accurate. You can see this attack used by Duryal in theFeathery Ambition boss fight.
The problem with this spell is that the casting time is painfully slow.Even with “Skyborn Resilience,” which makes it so that it’s harder for enemy attacks to interrupt your casting, we still don’t want to risk taking too much damage, especially in NG+ and beyond.
9Demonbane Strike
Wuchang The Impaler
Feathering
Conjure forth a spear to stab upward and cause Feathering damage.
Found in the front yard of the Bai Mansion.
While most spells inWuchang: Fallen Feathersare ranged attacks, some of them are powerful close-range options, such as the Demonbane Strike. Demonbane Strikeis an incredibly powerful attack that is not only fast but hits ridiculously hard in most cases.
Demonbane Strike lets you impale an enemy at melee range for a single, devastating strike. It sends most smaller enemies flying, andcan shave off a chunk of a boss’s health for a low amount of setup. It can be found before yourfight against Bai Kruin the Bai Mansion.
The problem with Demonbane Strike is that it is just pure Feathering damage, and isn’t capable of proccing Alacrity to refund Skyborn Might, nor is it particularly mobile. Not only that, but since it’s not an Echo spell, its three-stack cost makes it quite a precious spell to use in most situations.
This spell is great for dealing a lot of burst damage in one go, though it’s rather inconsistent in stunning larger enemies while having a slow recovery animation.
8Divine Might
Lend Me Your Strength
Increases the damage of your next attack.
On a corpse right next to the Red-Clad Lady in Doomwillow Beach.
Divine Might is a simple spell that increases the damage to the next attack you land on a target. That’s it. No muss, no fuss.
It’s an excellent early game spell that gives you an extra boost, especially when you have a play style where every attack matters, and is a particularly useful spell for anybody whose build is more oriented towardsweapons like axes.
As a buffing spell, casting Divine Might is fast, easy, and only costs one stack of Skyborn Might. With theOP longsword build, you can easily regenerate that stack you spent and then immediately spend it on divine might.
This spell was tremendous during the first 10 hours of the game, when I used it religiously during myduel against Honglan.
7Echo Of Xuanyangzi
Hack And Slash
Release a Feathering-type blade force forward, along with five orbs. Can trigger Alacrity if you’re attacked while casting.
Echo spell from Feathery Ambition (Xuanyangzi)
Echo of Xuanyangzi is the last spell that you can earn inWuchang: Fallen Feathers,as it is quite literally a spell that you can only acquire from the final boss of the game, Feathery Ambition.
It’s an endgame spell that deals incredible feathering damage. Its dodge move may not look like much, but if you time it right, you can briefly interrupt an enemy’s attack with a quick slash during the dodge.
Its acrobatic moves never fail at making you feel badass, and it also deals a lot of Feathering and slashing damage, capable of melting mob enemies as well as biting off the boss’s health bar.
And in case you missed your target, the homing orbs also have excellent tracking and can briefly stun smaller enemies they hit. The only problem with this spell is that it’s available so late in the game, and the only way you may really have fun with it is in NG+.
6Echo Of Honglan
One-Winged Angel
Unfurl your wings and release seven blood-hued feathers.
Echo spell from Vermillion Feathers (Honglan)
Similarly, the Echo of Honglan is a late-game spell that you can only acquire by defeating one of the game’s hardest fights, which, unsurprisingly, is yourrematch with Commander Honglan as Vermillion Feathers.
At this point, I’m sure you’ll remember that dreaded first duel with Honglan. This time, she’s in her angel phase, somehow infected by the Feathering andcapable of using terrifyingly elegant moves that would make Malenia and Sephiroth blush, most particularly firing a barrage of homing feathers.
10 Best AA Soulslikes You Need To Play
Mid-tier budgets, top-tier punishment
Beating her gives you this spell, which is a reliable damage-dealer. It melts mobs, and can shred through boss health bars with a single cast. Thanks to the “Fury of the Skyborn,“this powerful spell becomes hilariously cheap to use, allowing you to spam it as long as you’re consistently generating Skyborn Might stacks.
Unfortunately, there are two downsides, other than the fact that you acquire it so late in the game:you can only dodge to your right during the attack animation, and its slow recovery leaves you open to attack for a few precious seconds.Too often have I died to a boss’s attack right after using this awesome attack.
5Divine Ward
Grant Me Protection
Pray to the divine, reducing your damage taken for a time.
Purchased from the panda for 5 bamboo shoots.
You’ll notice that almost every buff spell is included on this list, and for good reason. In a game that has so much going on at once and so few ways to defend yourself, any spell that gives you a chance to breathe is invaluable during an intense boss fight.
At the cost of three stacks of Skyborn Might, you can cast Divine Ward to give yourself a damage reduction, allowing you to tank hits that normally would kill you rather easily.
However, there isn’t definitive data on just how much damage it reduces. In my experience, I’ve been able to take attacks that would otherwise one-shot me.I would estimate it to be around a 25% to 30% damage reduction, which is pretty generous considering how hardWuchang’sbosses hit.
And to make this spell even more appealing, you can acquire it as early as Chapter 1.You can buy it from the panda for five bamboo shoots in a cave just past where you first foundNian Suichang. It’s easy to find four bamboo shoots, plus you nab a free one from the Storyteller.
4Echo of Zhang Xianzhong
You’ve Been Thunderstruck
Leap forward and smash the ground, creating a thunderstorm that causes Lightning damage and Paralysis buildup.
Echo spell from Fierce Tiger and the Sovereign.
Acquired from theFierce Tiger,Echo of Zhang Xianzhong is a powerful spell and is great for dealing AOE damage, capable of finishing off most foes while exploring the world.
Because it scales with your magic stat, it’s perfect for any Magic-based builds, and a good melee attack for when yourone-handed swordjust doesn’t cut it.
It’s a strong leap attack that can quickly close the distance of any target within range, capable of sending weaker enemies flying to give you a few seconds of free damage. It can also stun some beefier enemies, interrupting their attack chains.
Echo of Zhang Xianzhong also deals Lightning damage, which is a damage type that not many enemies are resistant to. Its Paralysis status effect can alsolower your target’s damage output.
However, this spell is undercut by the self-inflicted Paralysis buildup each time you cast it,which may also decrease the damage you deal in the long run.
3Echo of Lu Bingzhang
Boom. Headshot
Leap and throw a spear, dealing Feathering damage. Can trigger Alacrity if you’re attacked while casting.
Echo spell from Feathered Priest.
While its damage doesn’t scale as much as Echo of Honglan or Demonbane Strike,Echo of Lu Bingzhang shines the best as a sniping tool,as it has the longest range and highest accuracy out of any ranged spell in the game.
Acquired from theFeathered Priest,Echo of Lu Bingzhang is easily one of thebest spellsfor anybody who’s looking for a strong, long-ranged attack to catch your target unawares.
It also has the added bonus of activating Alacrity whenever you get attacked, serving as a dodge and counterattackat the same time for the more involved magic user.
This spell is perhaps one of the most reliable you could use in a fight against a boss from far away, andI’ve used it to pop off a few free shots onEternal Gloryduring my fight against him.
