Elon Musk has become a staple name in the video games industry with his confessions of love for games likeElden RingandDiablo 4. Musk is occasionally seen collaborating with streamers to play games likeDiablo 4and he has even streamed a few sessions on X/Twitter to test the platform’s capabilities for livestreams. He has been consistently talking about video games on X/Twitter.

Musk has been pretty vocal about his love for video games like Elden Ring and Diablo 4.

As much as Musk is known because of his love for video games, he is also popular for the technological advancements of his companies, Tesla, SpaceX, and now Neuralink. This leads to the question of whether Elon Musk’s love for video games and Neuralink experiments could pioneer new advancements and take gaming technology to new heights.

Elden Ringwas released to critical acclaim and high praise two years back and received appreciation from gamers and critics alike. The game captivated players which it still does to this day and one of those people was Elon Musk. Musksaidthe game is the“most beautiful art”he’s ever seen and also revealed his build with players later on.

Musk is also an avidDiabloplayer and is casually grindingDiablo 4these days solo or with known streamers. Musk’s neurotechnology company Neuralink is currently in the news with its first human trails and it could do something amazing for the gaming tech.

Neural link experiments could gaming technology and eliminate the use of hardware.

For the uninitiated, Neuralink makes a device the size of a coin that is surgically implanted in the skull and ultra-thin wires in the brain, developing a brain-computer interface. This device registers brain activity and sends it to a device such as a smartphone or computer. Musk had called this“the future of technology”and that it would allow people to use mobiles or computers just by thinking.

This could be a big breakthrough if used in gaming technology, limiting or ceasing the use of a controller. Moreover, it could also help specially-abled people enjoy video games by just thinking about the activities they want to do. The neural implants have already been tested on monkeys playing video games with its mind and the company has said that the results have been pretty good.

A Twitch streamer, Perrikaryal playedElden Ringwith her mind, eventually beating the game by hooking up an EEG device to her brain. Her brain activity is linked to different key commands in the game and while she says to has a great experience playing the game with just her mind she also asked for help from Neuralink and its tech to help take this endeavor of her further and could benefit the whole gaming industry as whole.

Neuralink has ample potential in both technology and the medical field but it can also heavily change the gaming world. The neural implants could allow gamers to play games using their minds instead of a controller. Players would just need to think about what key they wanna press and the activity they want to do and the computer receiving signal would make it happen.

However, it is also possible that players would have to train the Neural link to read and calibrate the player’s brain activities or what they think of for a specific input. After the system has learned everything then it would be possible to game without controllers. This would also reduce latency with the commands going directly from the brain to the computers.

It could also be used in virtual reality headsets for a more immersive gaming experience and eliminate the use of VR gloves. Players could just think of the activity and be able to do it in the game, making the experience more real and exciting. But it’s still years away as the device has only now started human trials and Musk wants to help people make their lives better than allow gamers to play games with their minds.
