The nextDragon Ball: Budokai Tenkaichiis coming after 17 years, which also means that it’s a huge leap from the PS2-era to the latest generation consoles. With that in mind, the implementation of some features required a reconsideration. We are talking about the split-screen that players have loved throughout the series.

Devs had to consider several things for Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero.

Developers haven’t exactly moved it out of the equation, but they’ve implemented it in a way that some fans aren’t happy about. In the latest gameplay showcase of the game, it was revealed that players will be able to use it in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. However, they have a valid reason to do this, and fans would agree with them.

Dragon Ball Fans Are More Into Split-Screen Than Visuals

Split-screens aren’t exactly history, despite recent changes indicating the same forDragon Ball: Sparking Zero. Now players are confirmed to have the feature, just not in the way they had imagined. The feature will be exclusive to a single level. Not just that, there will be a little inconvenience during character selection too.

“They’ve done this one better than the movie…”: Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero’s Near Perfect Recreation of the Anime’s Biggest Moments is Proof Bandai Namco are Dangerously Close to Pulling Off the Impossible

Not all the fans like how the feature is coming into the game. One user dubbed Zeek on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) asked why it’s being implemented to Hyperbolic Time Chamber and not all the levels.

Why only on one level? This could easily be implemented on all levels 🤦🏾‍♂️

Another user called Yahya was confused about this and had a suggestion that can actually work in bringing the feature to all the levels.

I am still SO VERY confused on why da hell is implementing splitscreen 15 years got SO MUCH more difficult for devsYou are allowed to make the single player experience look visually better than the splitscreen &have the splitscreen look less resSplitscreen>visualsWTFIsThis?

Split-screens have always been a staple to Budokai Tenkaichi.

MrIppikodoku, too, was among the ones favoring the implementation of the feature in all the stages of the game.

Huh?! Why only THERE?! I thought the new consoles were supposed to allow them to do as much as they can with this new entry. Makes no sense at all limiting split screen to this one Map.🤦🏾‍♂️

Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero May Be the Best Budokai Tenkaichi, but It Fumbled With Some Series Staple Features

Though fans might not be happy about this, Bandai Namco clearly explained why it has to be this way.

Split-Screens May Only Have Affected The Ultimate Experience

In the gameplay showcase that gave a glimpse of Episode and Custom Battles,Sparking Zeroproducer Jun Furutani explained what went in there with the local multiplayer. They were more focused on showcasing the power of the latest generation of consoles, which would not have been possible if the feature had been implemented at all levels.

The effects of charging Ki, sudden changes in weather, the dynamic destruction during battles, and more needed to be showcased for a sense of immersion. Apart from that, the game should keep the legacy ofBudokai Tenkaichiintact.

For the ones still feuding over split screen, there are likely to be updates implemented to the game after it has been released. Considering that developers may bring something that would help implement the feature to all the stages and not just the Hyperbolic Time Chamber.

What do you think about split-screen being exclusive to one level? We would like to know your thoughts in the comments section below.
