It seems like Marvel Games have been having an incredible year coming ahead. Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydrawas announced back in September 2022, and it’s being developed by Skydance Games. While it’s all set to release this year, the developers still haven’t shared much about the game. However, we do know for a fact that the title will allow us to fight against Nazis, and that’s perfect considering everything that’s been going on in the political space these days.

Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydrabrings some Nazi action

While chatting withEntertainment Weekly, Amy Hennig, who leads Skydance New Media Division and serves as a writer forMarvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, revealed brand-new details about the project and gave us our first look at Wakanda.

Hennig confirmed that alongside occupied Paris,Wakanda would be a major setting for gamers to unravel. We’ll see a young Steve Rogers and the Black Panther of 1943, Azzuri, who is the grandfather of T’Challa. Despite their differences, they’ll have to overcome a common threat, Hydra. There’s no doubt that gamers would absolutely dominate the Nazi threat!

It’s pretty black and white. Who doesn’t want to punch a Nazi?

Hennig and her team’s use of the Nazi threat inMarvel 1943: Rise of Hydracomes at quite an interesting time. If you haven’t been paying attention to global politics,Donald Trump has risen to powerand escalated the ideological war that’s been going on between the left and right.

There’s a clear-cut division in the political background, with each side accusing the other of being Nazis and Fascists. Those who are frustrated with everything that’s been going on would love the digital background inMarvel 1943: Rise of Hydraas they’ll be able to take out their frustrations. It’s a game that will combine history and modern politics, making every mission feel like a win against the oppressive side.

Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydrais partnering with a surprising publisher

WhileMarvel 1943: Rise of Hydraseems to be a promising game, the fact that it’s partnering up with PLAION for publishing reasons might concern gamers.

Both Skydance Games and PLAION are completely independent units, and the partnership on the AAA title will have a huge influence on the future of both companies.

“This looks insane”: Even Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra Has Better Graphics Than Black Panther’s T’Challa vs Killmonger Fight Scene

Even though PLAION has launched a number of successful games, it’s owned by Embracer Group. If you’ve forgotten, Embracer Group has had tons of difficulties in recent years, including massive layoffs and cancellation of projects.

Due to all these problems, Embracer Group decided to split into multiple small companies: Coffee Stain & Friends, Asmodee Group, and Middle-Earth Enterprises & Friends. PLAION is supposed to be part of Middle-Earth Enterprises & Friends as it works onMarvel 1943: Rise of Hydra.
