The Wild Hunt In The Witcher Explained
InThe Witcherbooks, the Wild Hunt, or the Wraiths of Mörhogg, are the elves who left the main world using the portals during the Conjunction. These elves traveled to a new world where they found Humans and Unicorns. However, these Elves wanted this world for themselves, so they completely eradicated humans while continuing their fight with Unicorns.
Years later, the Elves realize that they need slaves in this new world. So, they started traveling different alien worlds looking for slaves, and the group that galloped the skies for this single purpose was later named,The Wild Hunt.
Why the Wild Hunt Want Ciri?
In theWitcherbooks, the Wild Hunt runs into Ciri while she is looking for Geralt in the Gors Velen. As they were in the same area, the Wild Hunt sensed the Elder abilities in Ciri. However, before they can capture her, both Geralt and Yennefer find Ciri.
After sensing the true power of the Elder’s Blood, theWild Huntmade it their purpose to capture Ciri and take her to their world. There, they wanted to use Ciri’s Elder Blood genes to gain the same power as her. Apparently, they could also manipulate the power From Ciri’s genes to access the Gate of the Worlds, making it easier for them to travel to other alien worlds.
In Netflix’sThe Witcher, Ciri opens a portal to theWild Hunt’sworld. In this new world, Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri see the Wild Hunt getting close to them on their horses. These riders make it clear that they want Ciri for her Elder Blood, similar to how it is in the books.
