PlayStation has been on a bit of a roll recently, as the gaming giant is all set to celebrate its 30th anniversary later this year. The company finally gave us a look at the highly anticipated PS5 Pro just a few days ago, and while many enthusiasts are looking forward to the beefier console, its $700 price tag has pushed away a lot of people.

For brave souls who’ve decided to soldier on with their current PS5s, Sony has started rolling out a new system update, bringing features like Welcome Hub and 3D audio profiles. However, after all these years, the console is still missing a feature that Phil Spencer and his team at Xbox managed to nail day one.
PS5’s Latest Update Fails to Bring Custom Themes
Downloadable right now, the brand-newPS5console update is undoubtedly one of the most extensive ones Sony has released in quite some time.
The major addition in this update is a new area of the dashboard dubbed“Welcome Hub”. This section of the menu is entirely customizable and lets users change the accompanying widgets and other details that can be displayed. Unfortunately, it’s not quite the custom themes PlayStation fans have been requesting for ages now.

Custom themes were undoubtedly one of the best parts of PS4’s home screen, which allowed players to download wallpapers, customize their UI menu with favorite game backgrounds, switch background music, and much more! It was a perfect way to bring a personal touch and make the entire UI feel a bit more special.

So, when PS5 debuted in 2020 without custom themes, gamers were quite frustrated. Many thought the console would eventually be given the feature since even PS4 didn’t support customers’ themes at launch. However, it’s been four years, and we still don’t have a word on custom themes.
What’s even worse is that even Xbox, who has struggled against PlayStation in this generation, brought this feature from day one to their consoles.

It’s truly a shame that custom themes never ended up making it to the PS5, and at this point in the console’s life cycle, it will be shocking if they make a return. Let’s cross our fingers and hope themes return with the PlayStation 6.
PlayStation 5 Pro Sets an Unfortunate Record
The upcoming PlayStation 5 Pro is all set to release on November 7th as a disc-less console that promises a 45% boost in rendering power over the base console. It’s loaded with tons of features that ensure performance and visual clarity with mind-blowing ray-tracing effects.
However, the steep $700 price tag and lack of disc driveare making the console a hard pass for many, and they’ve made their frustrations known on YouTube for the console’s reveal video.

Will Black Myth: Wukong be on PS5 Pro? There’s a Few Graphics Flaws the Next Gen Console Can Undo But Not in a Million Years It’s Worth Paying $700
The PS5 Pro technical presentation is the most disliked console reveal video in YouTube’s history, withwell over 141,000 dislikes. With over 93,000 likes on the reveal video, there’s a clear split among gamers towards the brand-new console.
The backlash is quite clear in the video’s comments, with many fans annoyed at the $700 pricing in the UK, US, and EU especially. Despite all that, analysts believe that the upgraded consolewill sell like hot pancakes.

Well, there’s no denying that PlayStation 5 Pro was always meant to be a niche product that catered towards the enthusiasts. However, it still doesn’t change the fact that the console’s performance and visual upgrades aren’t worth the price. The lack of new game announcements to showcase the console’s technological advancements doesn’t help either.
