Creed: Rise to GloryandBattlewakedeveloper Survios is adapting the popular AMC showThe Walking Deadwith their upcoming VR gameThe Walking Dead: Onslaught, and now they will be adapting one of HBO’s most popular series,Westworld,as well with a Oculus Rift and HTC Vive game calledWestworld Awakening. The wait forWestworld Awakeningwill not be long either because it is releasing on Viveport, Steam, and the Oculus Store tomorrow, August 20, for $29.99. As Survios has done with many of their other games,Westworld Awakeningwill also be available in over 400 VR arcades when it launches. The game’s release also comes ahead ofWestworld Season 3, which arrives on HBO in 2020.
Westworld Awakeningis a stealth set during the second season of the show, and has players assume control of Kate, a Mesa facility host with a QA tablet that she can use to manipulate the environment, as she is being chased by a serial killer named Hank. As a tie in game, Survios is promising thatWestworld Awakeningwill feature some iconic scenes and locations from show. HBO is very much on board with this new game as well, with VP of Interactive and Immersive Experiences Aaron Nonis saying “Westworld Awakeningis the perfect fusion of the right creators and story, the right IP, and the right platform that allows us to create the next-generation playground for ourWestworldfans.”
Hopefully, this game will fare better thanWestworld Mobile, which was shuttered back in January following a lawsuit from Bethesda because the game allegedly stole code fromFallout Shelter.Survios confirmed that they collaborated heavily with Kilter Films on the project, which personally give me a lot more confidence aboutWestworld Awakening.
