This drama which traces the professional and emotional challenges of Selleck’s police commissioner Frank Reagan, has captured the fancy of fans for well over a decade now. Though the official announcement has been made that the series will culminate after the current season, Tom Selleck is not ready to give up on the show just yet.

TheFRIENDSstar who is also the producer, spoke toTV Insiderahead of the release of season 14, and elaborated on whyBlue Bloodsshould be carried forward for more seasons, especially for ardent fans of the show.

“The show’s more popular than ever, and I think [numbers] will increase with the interest this year. We’re certainly not out of ideas. CBS will find an awful lot of people aren’t ready to say goodbye to it,”

TheThree Men and a Babystar also revealed that despite working for 14 years on this project, he never had the slightest inclination to feel that he was done with the character at any point in time. This was a defining factor in him not wanting to say goodbye to the show.

For 14 years,Tom Selleckhas immortalized New York police commissioner Frank Reagan in the impressive police procedural drama series,Blue Bloods. As a character straddling the vagaries of professional and personal life, Selleck’s iconic portrayal was a defining factor in the CBS series having sustained a mammoth 14 seasons.

Blue Bloodswill finally end its journey following season 14 which aired in February, with part two to follow later on in the year. While Selleck has been very vocal about his opinion that the show still has the legs to go on, his fitting tribute in a statement that appeared inTV Insider, proved what the series meant to him on a personal level.

Through his memorable portrayal of Frank Reagan, Selleck has ensured that his protagonist will go down as one of the most memorable characters of all time on television.
