The Devs from Remedy Entertainment behindAlan Wake 2held an AMA (Ask Me Anything) on Reddit a few days back speaking in length about the title and answering fan questions. Nathalie Jankie, Mission Designer, Marko Muikku, Gameplay Lead, and John Crossland, Lead Character Artist answered some of the best fan questions.
The developers also mentioned that the team is working on expansions forAlan Wake 2, namely Night Springs and The Lake House. The official Alan Wake Reddit group is almost 60,000 members strong and the Devs mentioned the AMA was being held to celebrate going past the 50,000 mark. One of those questions centered around one of the missions fromAlan Wake 2, titled We Sing.

It’s a mission that’s highly unlike any other mission in the game, what with Wake walking through a maze of locations taking down more and more enemies with the song being displayed on massive screens everywhere.

Muikku also mentioned that the mission was part of a plan to give players “a breather from the survival horror loop and allow them to enjoy the ride.” Lead mission designer Anne-Marie Grönroos was credited with working on the design of the mission We Sing.

According to Grönroos, an early version of the Herald of Darkness song and lyrics was used as a foundation to build the gameplay beats.
The point of We Sing was to recap the first game, which it does, but it’s also a mini mirror of Wake trying to escape the Dark Place.
Grönroos was said to have dedicated each section of the mission to a different gameplay concept including fake enemies, shadow enemies, Bright Falls-style combat, and a Plot Board in the final section.
Alan Wake 2is going rather strong with fans still playing and replaying the title and the title also continues to win accolades. The latest being the National Academy of Video Game Trade Reviewers awards for Graphics and Technical, Song (Original or Adapted), and finally for Writing in a Drama.
