Baldur’s Gate 3is undeniably an AAA title that will go down in history, along with Larian Studios. The game offered a ton of content, a complete story, and zero microtransactions. All of this for a $60 price tag with no hidden catches has set a new standard for games in the same category.

The game is so loved by the community that many started asking for disc versions of the game as a way to preserve the title physically. While Larian promised it would follow through on these demands, the studio appears to have hit some roadblocks that could delay the process further.
Larian Studios Announced Delay for Baldur’s Gate 3 Physical Editions
Digital copies have helped to alleviate many of the issues faced during the production and distribution of game discs. However, not everyone trusts digital releases and prefers to have a rendition of their media that they can hold and preserve. So, while digital download copies are becoming more popular, physical discs are not going away anytime soon.
Despite doing amazing sales numbers via the digital-only release, Larian Studios announced it would becreating physical copies ofBaldur’s Gate 3as aDeluxe Edition. The intention was to create the nostalgic feeling of unboxing one’s favorite game. Unfortunately, the studio has run into several hurdles during this process and has had to announce delays to this release. We now have news of another delay, which may set back the release by another month.

We have disappointing news to share with you.While we were so hoping to not have to update owners of the console physical Deluxe Edition with any further news of delay, we’ve now run into more production issues which means that players who pre-ordered their PS5 North America…
Taking to its X page, the studio has revealed that the physicalDeluxe Editionhas been delayed due to “production changes outside of our control.” Larian Studios claims it has to follow certain procedures set by production companies when manufacturing PS5 discs, and the approval process for this procedure is taking longer than expected.

Larian estimates the PS5 North American copies to be ready in ~14 days, followed by another 10 days to start delivering them directly to players. The studio is also looking at hiring temporary extra staff to help facilitate this process.
The Statement Addressed Digital Content and Shipment of Other Region Copies
Larian Studios, while working on the physical copies for its flagship title, is also putting into effect other, bigger plans.The studio announced recently that it would be expandingwith a new studio in Warsaw, Poland, to develop two new ambitious RPG projects. Neither of these includes a newBaldur’s Gatetitle, but the studio is not done with that game yet.

The Deluxe Edition physical copies for the Xbox and PS5 Europe and Oceania regions have already been shipped. It seems only North American PS5 users are going to have to wait longer for their copy, which is going to irk some people into possibly canceling their order.

A follow-up tweet to the delay apology also detailed how people could access their digital content on their physical copies. This is to ensure people don’t need to buy the same add-ons again to work with the new version of the game by redeeming the code provided in the email.
