Killer Mike had an eventful Grammys outing, to say the least. Mike was the big winner at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards, sweeping three gramophones.
The evening started with the Atlanta rapper making headlines for his chart-bursting studio album,Michael,which is described as his“come home moment musically.”But as the event progressed, the news of him getting arrested backstage hit the internet and left his fans and well-wishers puzzled.
Regardless, the incident didn’t spoil the party for the 48-year-old rapper and activist.

Killer Mikeheaded to the Grammys with three nominations to his name in rap categories. He hit the bullseye every time, taking home awards for best rap song(Scientists & Engineers), best rap performance(Scientists & Engineers), and best rap album(Michael).
However, a video of him being escorted by police officers out of the Crypto.com arena worried his fans. Further, eyewitnesses reportedly heard someone shouting “Free Mike” during the arrest.
As perBBC, the Los Angeles police department revealed that he was booked on a misdemeanor battery charge after an alleged physical altercation inside the event venue on Sunday.

Mike, whose real name is Michael Render, was later released. He is scheduled to appear in court later this month. For now, though, he isn’t letting the incident take away the shine from his historic moment. The rapper told an Atlanta-based radio show:
“We hit a speed bump and then we head back to the party, man. We partied all night. Ain’t nothing had happened, man. But we winners. That’s it.”
In a statement shared toPeople, he added:“We experienced an over-zealous security guard but my team and I have the upmost confidence that I will ultimately be cleared of all wrongdoing.”

“For all the people out there that think you get too old to rap, bulls-it. I don’t give a damn if you’re 78 rapping about how many gals you got in the nursing home, make sure we keep hip-hop alive,”he said (viaThe Hollywood Reporter).
Among many other talented artists, Mike facedDrakein all three categories. Interestingly, right before the ceremony, the Canadian rapper took to Instagram toannounce that the ceremonydoesn’t “dictate sh*t” in the hip-hop world.
