The live-service free-roam looter-shooter genre is buzzing right now, thanks toFortnite’s latest announcement. There has been a lot of growth in not only the number but also the types of games within this genre, but the game remains one of the biggest names in the space.

Call of Duty: Warzoneis a close second, and many argue it even overtakes the Epic Games release at times. The presentation of the two games is different, but they offer similar experiences. However, one might now pull ahead, and fans are eager to see it!

After asuccessful collaboration with one of the biggest bands in history, Epic wants to capitalize on the moment with a dose of sweet nostalgia. So, the company introducedFortnite Reload, a spiritual return to the OG version of the game. This was not entirely unexpected in the community, as Epic has previously stated the original would be making a comeback in 2024.

This should keep battle royale fans happy, but hopefully it doesn’t create a situation whereevery developer feels their game needs this mode to be successful.
