Marvel Rivalsisn’t the only Marvel game in town. As Insomniac Games continues to work on its upcomingWolverine game,Unchartedcreator Amy Hennig is leading a team at Skydance New Media for the forthcoming action-adventureMarvel 1943: Rise of Hydra.
The Directhad an exclusive interview at MultiCon in Los Angeles, California, with voice actor Khary Payton, who confirmed the game’s current release window.

While there’s no gameplay in the trailer, the facial animations in the cutscenes are a sight to behold.
Given the buzz around the game, a holiday release isn’t that much of a surprise. We just saw a successful holiday release for another pop-culture adaptation turned into an action-adventure game withIndiana Jones and the Great Circle. In a perfect world, Marvel Games can continue to enjoy the success ofMarvel Rivalsand Insomniac’s Spider-Man games and establish their properties as some of the best in the industry.

Development is also underway on games forIron Manand Black Panther, with EA acting as publisher, and a Blade game developed by Arkane Lyon.

For Payton, playing Black Panther is a surreal moment. He recognizes the importance of playing Black Panther inMarvel 1943: Rise of Hydra. “As a black kid growing up in America, I mean, of course you think ‘I want to be Black Panther,'” he says. “And to be playing him in the video game, playing his grandfather, be playing a version of Black Panther, and looking on there and seeing that it’s me… It’s like the most photo realistic.”

It seems as though not everyone is trilled with Steve Rogers’ “off-brand” likeness to Chris Evans in the new Marvel 1943: Rise Of Hydra trailer.
Payton also recognizes Hennig’s strength as a developer and what this means forMarvel 1943: Rise of Hydra.

I still can’t believe that it’s happening. But it’s going to be so good. Amy Hennig, who did the ‘Uncharted’ series, was the director and writer of the series creator, she is just so amazing and I’m like, ‘Man, we couldn’t have asked for a better head of this project.’ So I know it’s taken a while, but trust me, it is going to be worth it.
