There’s no doubt that Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed (AC) is one of the most popular gaming franchises out there right now. The franchise has reinvented itself and continues to deliver experiences that capture every gamer’s attention. However, Ubisoft isn’t done yet! The studio has confirmed that the upcoming title in the franchise, Assassin’s Creed Codename Red, will be titled Assiassins’ Creed Shadows and will soon get a reveal.

While very little is known about the upcoming Assassins’ Creed Shadows, players are hyped and speculating about what the game could bring and change from the previous AC Games. The game has a different tone from the ones we’ve seen in the franchise, with a brand new setting. However, reports suggest that Ubisoft’s one decision will lock out millions of PS4 and Xbox One gamers from the upcoming AC game.

Reports Suggest Assassin’s Creed Shadows Isn’t Coming to PS4 and Xbox One

Ubisoft has officially revealed that Assassin’s Creed Codename Red, the first AC game set in Japan, is namedShadows. The studio plans to reveal the game with a trailer on May 15, showcasing the culmination of years of work. This is one of the most hotly anticipated AC games in history, with Ubisoft finally allowing players to play as a samurai-like character in Japan.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Release Date May Have Been Leaked by Ubisoft Already

Unfortunately, this will be the first AC game not to be released on older-generation consoles. Initially, several sources revealed that Assassins’ Creed Shadows wouldn’t be coming to Xbox One.

However, it was later confirmed that thegame won’t be coming to PS4 either. The recent AC games for the current ninth-generation consoles were also released on older platforms. This was reasonable, as supply issues plagued the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S launches because of the COVID-19 Pandemic. The situation forced many developers to release games on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One again, as most people still had these platforms.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Release Date May Have Been Leaked by Ubisoft Already

However, the situation is quite different now. While we still have many gamers on PS4 and Xbox One platforms, the number of owners of current-gen consoles has also increased. It makes sense for developers to move past the previous-gen consoles, as they’re quite outdated now in terms of their hardware capabilities.

This news is not surprising, considering thatUbisoft mentioned back in 2022that upcoming Assinass’s Creed titles, starting with Red and now Shadows, would be exclusive to the current generation of consoles.
