Ubisoftspent quite some time developingAssassin’s Creed Shadows, which was delayed multiple times before it was finally launched this year for PC,PS5, andXbox Series X | S.
This move was caused by the negative feedback from fans and critics towards the gameplay trailers and showcases during the development of Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

Another reason was the poor receptionreceived by previous Ubisoft titles, such asStar Wars: OutlawsandAvatar: Frontiers of Pandora,in the past few years.

However, after witnessing the positive outcome of the longer development time of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, it seems thatUbisoft has decided to spend more time polishing its upcoming games.
This was announced today, during the financial results report. Right now, it’s not clear exactly which Ubisoft titles are going to take longer development time.

It was only suggested thatthe said titles are from Ubisoft’s top franchises, which areAssassin’s Creed,Far Cry,Rainbow Six, The Division, andGhost Recon.
More Polished Games From Ubisoft
Yves Guillemot, the CEO of Ubisoft, said that the delayed projects are now aiming to launch after the current financial year, which ends on June 21, 2025.
So, the next installments in Ubisoft’s top franchises are going to eitherlaunch by the end of March 2027, or March 2028, the next two financial years.

Regarding Ubisoft’s new strategy, Yves Guillemot explained:
“After a review of our pipeline, we have decided to provide additional development time to some of our biggest productions in order to create the best conditions for success. As a consequence, FY2026-27 and FY2027-28 will see significant content coming from our largest brands.”
Assassin’s Creed Shadows was released in March 2025 and managed to securethe second-highest day one sales in the franchise’s historyand achieved3 million playersa week after launch. Yves Guillemot then continued:

“Aware of the challenges ahead, we took decisive steps to continue strengthening the company’s future. The launch of Assassin’s Creed Shadows was a defining moment. It reaffirmed the power of the Assassin’s Creed brand, with a highly favorable community response from long-time fans and new players alike. We also completed our initial cost savings program ahead of schedule. We are committed to going further, with additional savings of at least €100m over the next two years to drive structural efficiencies and reinforce the foundations of our organisation.”
This will hopefully lead to the release of better and more polished games from Ubisoft in the future.
