Why Did Kanye West Peed on His Grammy Award?
The video of West peeing on his Grammy Award came after a series of tweets where the rapper ranted about the music industry, particularly the record labels. West claimed that his actions would change the music industry for good. One of his tweets in the rantreportedlystated the following:
“90% of the record contracts on the planet are still on a royalty A standard record deal is a trap to NEVER have you recoup, and there’s all these hidden costs like the “distribution fees” many labels put in their contracts to make even more money off our work without even trying.”

West’s rant seemingly called out the unfair nature of contracts that African-American artists were subjected to and as a result, did not receive proper compensation for their work. At the same time, West also touched upon the exploitative nature of the music industry and unfair contracts that kept artists from having ownership of their music.
