We discuss predictions for the HBO Original and Max series True Detective Season 4 Episode 3, including the release date and where to watch online.

True Detective Night Country (2023)

This is whereTrue Detective Night Countrykicks it up with a terrifying jump scare, and Jodie Foster slowly turns Liz’s character into an American Karen. In a scene where Foster picks her daughter up from Peter’s place, Kayla’s grandmother is painting kakiniit—the traditional tattoo of the Inuit of the North American Arctic exclusively for women—on Leah’s face.

Liz becomes angry and upset. It’s an offensive scene, making it more striking coming from Foster. She portrays a character that only protects some of the community, not the one that includes the Inuit population. That explains her lack of investigation into Annie’s case. This also makes the relationship with her daughter, Leah, even more perplexing.
