Back in December, gamers were both surprised and excited for a brand-new game that shadow dropped during The Game Awards, and that game isThe Finals. During The Game Awards, a short trailer was released announcing thatThe Finalswas available to download, and had launched that day. Now, after a month since its release, there are already gamers who are comparing it toCall of Duty.

In a recent live stream, a popular streamer named Shroud made a comment regarding the game, and said it is too complicated for theCall of Dutycommunity. Now this remark may not seem like much, but it has already created a divide as some players agree with him. However, there are some who have taken offense, and believe he is incorrect.
Why Has Shroud Compared the Two Fanbases?
When it comes to games, there will always be those who compare one title from a similar franchise to another. The FinalsandCall of Dutyare such games. Since both are first-person shooters, require a large amount of skill to become professional, and have rather large followings, it made sense that gamers would eventually compare them.
However, sinceThe Finalshas only just been released, andCall of Dutyhas been putting out games for decades, it is hardly a fair comparison. But what made Shroud’s comment stand out is the fact that he targeted theCall of Dutyplayer base, as he stated thatThe Finalswould be “too much for them.” He also inferred that players who are moving over from the long-running franchise would need time to adjust.

Sadly, this has caused a small ripple in the gaming community, as some gamers think the two are more similar than others.
To be fair to both sides, they are equally right, asThe Finalsdoes share similar elements toCall of Duty, like gunplay and objectives. But it also requires players to choose specific classes that will be helpful to the mission, which turns each game into a completely fresh experience.

Even though Shroud has said this as a simple pass-by comment, it has already caused a lot of debates within the gaming community. It is now to the point where some gamers are saying that even thoughThe Finalsis still rather new, it is just as impactful and fun because it isn’t a generic first-person shooter likeCall of Duty.
How Will This Affect People’s Opinions of The Finals, and Will It Discourage Them From Playing?
For obvious reasons, when a gamer hears a common phrase like this, it will most likely discourage them from playing the title. Hearing your favorite streamer sayCall of Dutyplayers wouldn’t be able to wrap their minds around the gameplay ofThe Finals,is likely to turn some people off of the game.
For now,The Finalsis still a new title that will have a rather large learning curve, since there are plenty of classes to try. And players may not be able to try them all, especially when more classes and weapons are brought into the game in future updates.

It may be a big challenge forThe Finalsto eventually reach the heightsCall of Dutyhas; however, with the support of the community, there is potential for growth that could bring a whole new generation into the first-person shooter franchise.
Because of this, many gamers will most likely ignoreThe Finalsand stick withCall of Duty, whether it is good or not. Unfortunately, this might lead to a lot of players missing out on two fantastic games that may require a lot of skill, but can easily be understood with enough time contributed to them.
