The Sony Spider-Man Universe has sought to spread its reach far and wide, bringing under its web a host of characters, be it Dakota Johnson’s Madame Web, or Tom Hardy’s Venom. But they are still looking for the one man to tie it all together – their own version of the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.

That hasn’t stopped them from putting their best foot forward. A testament to this is Tom Hardy’sVenomfranchise. The soon-to-be capped-off trilogy has given fans many moments to write home about, be it the camaraderie between Eddie Brock and the symbiote, or the ‘carnage’ that the sequel caused.
Tom Hardy knew that farewell was close
As the curtains are set to draw upon one of the more successful (to be) trilogy in the history of superhero movies, it is but natural that people are getting emotional. None more than the likes ofTom Hardy. After all, bidding farewell to a franchise that he has been associated with for so long must have been difficult.
Yet, that is a call that he had made quite some time ago. DirectorKelly Marcelrevealed, in an interview withIGN, that the duo already knew that their story would come to an end with three parts only. He said,

“From the beginning, Tom and I always envisioned that this particular Eddie/Venom story would be told in three parts and the story arc would climax with the third film for reasons the movie will reveal.”
While it might seem like an end, Marcel has confirmed that it isn’t the end for other stories. After all, setting up a big shot like Knull for nothing would be a crime for the fans. He continued,

“As the fans know there are many, many more symbiote stories — the universe is wide and rich, and one movie could never do justice to Knull. Beyond this trilogy, there are more stories to explore – God is coming.”

This means that fans have a lot to look forward to in the coming days.
Fans did not get to see the dynamics between Venom and Spider-Man on-screen
In spite of everything to look forward to, there is one thing on many fans’ bucket list that couldn’t materialize. A crossover involvingTom Holland‘s Spider-Man and Tom Hardy’s Venom. And they did get their wish, with the 28-year-old appearing inVenom: Let There be Carnage.
Sadly, as it turns out, thePeaky Blindersstar had already planned his retirement from the franchise, withVenom: The Last Dance, meant to mark the end of a beautiful run for him. That meant that we would never be able to watch first hand the dynamics between the two iconic characters.

Moreover, it is worth noting that while we did get to witness a set of cameos in post-credit scenes, that was not at all what the fans bargained for.
While the clamor about the possibility of theUnchartedstar joining the universe as SSMU’s version of the friendly neighborhood hero was running amok, it was clear to many that the plan would never materialize, with Disney trying its best to limit any interaction between the two universes.

In the end, they managed to have their way. With SSMU still in search of the definitive version of its Spider-Man, it remains to be seen how their search pans out. Whether Holland joins their roster is for everybody to guess.
