For some people, the confirmation of newSuper Smash Bros. UltimateAmiibo is almost as exciting as the reveal of new fighters. Over the weekend, we receiveda deep divefrom the game’s director, Masahiro Sakurai, into the latest new character,MinecraftSteve. Alongside the look at Steve, we were treated to what many fans were hoping for, the announcement of three brand new Amiibo.

The announcement was highly anticipated but somewhat expected. During thelast character’s reveal(Min Min fromARMS), we got the confirmation of the two most recently released Amiibo, Joker fromPersona 5and Hero from theDragon Questseries. Following that trend, over the weekend, Sakurai confirmed that the final three characters from the firstSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate Fighters Passwould each be receiving their own Amiibo. These characters are Banjo and Kazooie fromBanjo Kazooie, Terry Bogard fromFatal Furyand a male Byleth fromFire Emblem: Three Houses.

The confirmation of the Banjo Amiibo has eased many collectors worries. With theBanjo KazooieIP owned by Rare, who are in turn owned by Microsoft Game Studios, licensing for the physical Amiibo could have proved tricky.

These three aren’t the only new Amiibo that have been confirmed recently either. Last month, as part of the Super Mario 35th Anniversary Direct, we got the announcement thatSuper Mario 3D World + Bowsers Furyis heading to theSwitch. Alongside the game, Nintendo confirmed that there would betwo brand new accompanying Amiibo. These two new Amiibo show both Mario and Peach wearing the Cat Suit that first appeared in3D World.

Not only did we get the announcement of new Amiibo, but we also got the news that certain Amiibo cards will be making a return. Due to the popularity ofAnimal Crossing: New Horizons, Nintendo has confirmed that Amiibo cards from seasons 1-4will be returning this November, to help players find their perfect islanders.
