Shark Tanktook the business industry and turned it into entertainment for those sitting at home. Watching products and ideas float by episode after episode and wondering which of them will catch the eyes of the Sharks,Shark Tankbecame one of our favorite reality shows. From Mark Cuban to Lori Greiner, the Sharks have helped countless entrepreneurs take their brainchild to the next level. Of course, not all ideas will make it through though and some might even get stuck with a bad deal.

Something similar happened to the fabric stickers company, evREwares when they walked into the tank on the fourteenth episode of season six. After hearing about the sales they were looking to make by the end of the year, all Sharks immediately swam away, except Mark Cuban. The man, who has made many worthwhile deals on the show, saw something the others didn’t in the company. Unfortunately, things didn’t really go according to his plan.
Mark Cuban takes a Gamble with evREwares
Sisters Ellie Brown and Becca Nelson had high hopes for their brand when they walked ontoShark Tankbut the reception they got was definitely not what they were expecting. Their company, evREwares specialized in reusable fabric stickers which parents could use to customize their child’s clothing as per their liking. The brand boasted everything from ties to bowties.
Coming back to the episode, after revealing their total sales to be $600,000 between 2011 and 2015, the sisters were asked about what they were looking to bring in that year.

When they answered with $50,000, the Sharks were stunned, and not in a good way. As for their ask, they wanted $100,000 for a stake of 30% in evREwares and let’s just say the business tycoons sitting in front of them were not willing to go ahead with the deal, or any counter-deal for the matter.
In fact,Kevin O’Learyeven went as far as to say,

Pull up, pull up! …This idea s*cks. This is a howling dog from hell, I’m out.
Ouch. Along with him,Lori Greiner,Barbara Corcoran, andRobert Herjavecwere out too. But then,Mark Cubanswooped in and decided to make a deal, much to O’Leary’s confusion.

He doubled the investment but instead of asking for a stake in the business, he offered $200K for the entire company. Brought to tears by the idea of being separated from their brand, Becca and Ellie decided to proceed with the deal anyway.
Where is evREwares now?
While the deal took place on the show, the sisters decided behind the scenes that it was not going to work out for them and ended up backing out from it. As perABC 11, once Cuban’s team contacted them after the show, the entrepreneurs just couldn’t bring themselves to sell their company.
Ellie told theTriangle Business Journal,“Mark and his team reached out right after the show. It was really hard, but Becca and I didn’t feel like we could sell our company.”

Cuban, who knows the value of a company and the emotions that are attached to it, decided to stick around as an advisor regardless of the sisters backing out of the deal.

As for evREwares itself, the business gained some traction thanks toShark Tankbringing in more than a thousand site visitors per minute. However, they were only able to make $10K more in sales.
Eventually, they wentout of businessin December 2015, and the sisters ended up deleting both the website and the brand’s social media pages.
