Law & Orderis one of the most beloved and long-running procedural dramas on network television. The series has been around for well over three decades and continues to thrive despite the drastic changes in the television and entertainment landscape. One of the newest additions to the series is actor Reid Scott, who was cast to fill in the void left by Jeffrey Donovan’s exit.
During an interview, Scott spoke about joining the show’s cast and admitted that he had predicted his own casting. At the same time, he was ecstatic to join the series, having tried to land a role in it for several years. Therefore, it is safe to say that it is a dream come true for Scott. Actor Reid Scott rose to prominence with his performance as Dan Egan in the HBO comedy seriesVeep. He was later cast as NYPD Detective Vincent Riley in the procedural dramaLaw & Order, created byDick Wolf. He replaced the outgoing Jeffrey Donovan, who played Senior Detective Frank Cosgrove.
Scott talked about joining the series during an interview withTown and Countrymagazine. The actor admitted that he had an inkling he would be approached for the role after Donovan exited the series at the end of season 22. He said:
I see was Jeffrey Donovan leaving Law & Order. And I don’t know why, I just had this lightning bolt, like, ‘Oh, they’re going to come after me.’
Scott explained that he kept the thought to himself and moved on with his daily routine. However, three days later he received a call from his agent and guessed that he had been approached forLaw & Order.

The actor was cast as a series regular starting with the show’s 23rd season, which premiered in January 2024 and concluded in May this year. Scott revealed that it had been his dream to land a part in the series for the past twenty years. As a result, he was delighted to finally be playing an NYPD cop in the hit series.
