TheMGSseries is quintessential to the stealth-action genre of gaming. Known for combining both gameplay and narrative that are considered way ahead of their time, frankly speaking, few franchises can compare to Kojima’s ex-juggernaut.

It is for that very reason that the series’ entries, especially the more outlandish ones likeMetal Gear Solid 2, are talked about to this day. For instance, in one such discussion, a particular reference fromSons of Libertyhas been brought back into the limelight, making all of us wonder just how far back Konami’s old team had this series planned out.
Metal Gear Solid 2’s VR Mode May Have Foreshadowed Raiden’s Fate in MGS4 and Revengeance
Take anylist of games that have left a tremendous impact on its playersand left them clamouring for more. Chances are that at least one game from Konami’s espionage franchise will show up there.
Interestingly enough,Metal Gear Solid 2is the game that fans tend to look back on most curiously. Given the game’s penchant for essentially predicting our world’s future, perhaps it should come as no surprise that it may have also predicted the paths the series’ characters would walk down.

Can Metal Gear Solid Ever Truly Succeed Without Hideo Kojima?
In a recent Reddit post, user BoxWithoutBorders shared how, inMetal Gear Solid2, Raiden cosplays as the Cyborg Ninja, AKA Frank Jaeger.
TheMGSVbit aside, what’s fascinating here is howHideo Kojimaseemingly set Raiden’s fate in stone from the beginning – unlikely, yes, but still very much a possibility.

From the way he moves and his swordplay near the end of this littleMGSEaster egg, it feels as if Raiden was always meant to become theMetal GearRay-chucking badass we all loved inGuns of the PatriotsandRevengeance.
Venom Snake’s Grey Fox Cosplay Reminds Us of a Few Interesting Facts About Their Relationship
Although similar to seeing a fully functional Raiden suit inMGSV, likeso many of this series’s fever-dream-esque elements, it is admittedly funny and exciting to see V, Big Boss’ best soldier, wearing the future suit of Big Boss’ other best soldier.
Thinking about it, it’s possible that V may have been the one to capture Jaeger during Operation Intrude N312, cementing his superiority and place as Big Boss’s best clone. It is also saddening that Big Boss never cared much for either of them, as he went on to fulfil his ambitions as soon as Solid Snake defeated them.

“Did Kojima direct this trailer?”: This New Trailer For Karma: The Dark World Looks Reminiscent of Both Metal Gear Solid V and Death Stranding
While it’s nothing more than a thought experiment, we can also always build our own narrative that Jaeger’s cyborg suit, the one we use inMGSV, may have been in development all that time ago onDiamond Dogs‘ base as a prototype of sorts, which V then took with him on his missions.
That is, after all, the power ofMetal Gear Solidas a series – giving enough breadcrumbs to have us putting things together for ourselves for years to come.

With that said, though, what are your thoughts on the reference inMGS 2? Do you think Venom Snake and Frank Jaeger came to know each other before the events of Outer Haven? Let us know in the comments below.
