Acute aortic dissection occurs when the inner layer of the aorta; the body’s largest artery, tears. this leads to the blood flow between the inner and middle layers.

This separation can rapidly disrupt blood flow to the heart and other vital organs; making the condition highly fatal without immediate medical intervention. Symptoms often mimic those of a heart attack, including severe chest pain, back pain, and shortness of breath. While treatments such as surgery and medication to control blood pressure exist, the condition remains dangerous, especially for individuals in their 50s and 60s.
