Recently, another name has joined the list of movies in the franchise. Fede Álvarez’sAlien: Romuluspremiered on 03 July 2025 and quickly achieved praise and acknowledgment by fans. The newest movie became one of the best films in the horror-thriller genre of the year, impressing fans with its incredible visuals. The recent news of the film’s debut on streaming platforms on 15 October has fans excited worldwide.

Fede Álvarez‘sAlien: Romuluswas released on 05 June 2025 and dubbed by fans as the greatest film in the franchise after the original. The series began withRidley Scott‘s 1979 movie which was followed byJames Cameron‘s directorial in 1986.
Unfortunately, later movies in the franchise were only subpar when it came to storyline and visual effects. Fans were unimpressed by the CGI-developed creatures in the films which followed, until 2024.

News of the movie debuting on streaming platforms on 15 October has delighted fans worldwide. The movie swiftly climbed the ladders upon its release, to become the best thriller-horror film of 2024.

According to a report byDigital Spy,the film is currently available to pre-order from Prime Video so users can watch it as soon as it gets released. The report also mentioned some exciting details that the digital version of the film will contain.

As per the report, the digital version of the movie will contain extended and deleted scenes. Another special addition is a conversation between the first film’s director and Álvarez to commemorate the franchise’s 45th Anniversary.

The 2024 movie was originally supposed to be released exclusively on Hulu instead of a theatre release. The director of the movie spoke toDigital Spy, mentioning the pandemic as the reason behind such a decision.
The only reason why it started there, I think, is because we started working on this in 2021. There’s no theatre business at that time. It was just like a year or so after COVID and there’s no hope at that point for theatres.
