With Ryan Reynolds’Deadpool & Wolverine,Marvel Studios shook up the world of the superheroes we know and love. Opening the door wide open for mutants/X-Men to enter the MCU, the studio has made sure that there is an array of possible storylines for the future. This in turn means that fans should brace themselves for a plethora of cameos, both big and small, that could possibly come their way.

One cameo that fans are particularly hoping for might not even be someone you think of off the top of your head – Bon, Agent of Hydra, the character who was on-screen for mere moments inDeadpoolbut had a much meatier role in the comic books.
Is it Finally Time for Ryan Reynolds’ Side-kick to Shine?
Bob was a common man, trying to make his wife happy with a stable income. Simply because of this, he was coerced into joining the criminal organization, Hydra. However, when Deadpool attacked Pakistan’s Hydra Base, he came face-to-face with Bob and somehow, persuaded him into helping him. While Bob was not a fan of the idea, worried about the repercussions with Hydra, Deadpool tortured him into saying yes.
Eventually, he accompanied Deadpool to another mission and became an honorary member of Agency X. He was also the one to heal Deadpool after Wolverine decapitated him. Bob and Wade sure had a little enemies-to-lovers trope going for them.

When Deadpool made his way to live-action withRyan Reynolds, Bob was nowhere to be seen. That changed inDeadpool(2016) when Wade was on his way to take revenge on Francis. While fighting his henchmen, he comes across Bob, who he recognizes despite his face being masked. If this isn’t friendship goals, we don’t know what is.
Fans of cinema were discussing their favorite movie cameos on X when someone mentioned Bob’s short but memorable role in the film. Since then, fans have been complaining about how they didn’t get to see Bob in his full glory after the short-lived cameo.

The fact he recognized him mid fight through a mask is what I really like. Like he recognized him from his pained grunt alone.
My biggest complaint about the Deadpool movies is that we never got a proper Hydra Bob or at least this iteration of Bob followed up in the next 2 sequels. Would have made the films extra sweaty. But at least this is better than nothing.

I wanted a Bob scene in every Deadpool movie
sadly bob wasn’t in the next two movies, he should’ve been his best buddy but peter’s still nice

I love Peter and Delaney, but we should’ve gotten Bob as his best friend. 🙁
With MCU’s doors wide open to any and all X-Men characters in the comic books now, maybe we will see Bob walking out of a sling ring one of these days.
Why Was Bob Not Hydra Bob inDeadpool?
When Rob Hayter showed up as Bob inDeadpool, his history and involvement with Hydra were not brought up. He was not Bob, Agent of Hydra in the film. Instead, he was simply shown as a former special forces operative, just like Wade.
Why? Well, the answer is quite simple actually. Fox did not have the rights for Hydra since the organization’s live-action adaptation rights are exclusively owned by Marvel Studios.

Therefore, neither Hydra nor anything related to it could be shown inDeadpool. This is why, Hayter’s character was simply called ‘Bob’ in his cameo.
Now that the MCU is open to X-Men-related characters, it is easy for Hydra Bob to make his way into the superhero universe and reunite with his old pal, Wade. This way he would have an actual back story and his character would be able to make a bigger impact on the storyline. PerhapsDeadpool 4would be where Hydra Bob finally gets to shine.
