One of Steam’s most-wishlisted games finally launched yesterday, but has already managed to earn itself an “overwhelmingly negative” review badge on Steam with over 10,000 player reviews. Now,The Day Beforehas attempted to scrub any evidence you might have that this isn’t actually what was promised by the developers.

The Day Before was first revealed back at the beginning of 2021 with an official announcement trailer, which, following the game’s abysmal launch, has since been removed from developerFntastic’s YouTube channel. The trailer can, however, still be viewed onIGN’s YouTube channel, as the outlet has heavily marketed the game over the past two years.

The Crazy Story Of Abandoned, The Game That Never Was

It’s becoming pretty clear that Abandoned has been…well, abandoned.

Fntastic first found itself in hot water after revealing that it wasenlisting unpaid volunteersto carry out duties such as translation and community moderation. The studio later went on todefend the use of unpaid volunteers, attempting to justify the decision by stating that volunteers did a better job at fixing issues with one of its previous titles than paid workers.

The Day Before thenreceived its second delayback in January after a rather bizarre trademark issue. It turned out, Fntastic had yet to trademark ‘The Day Before’ in the United States, which led to the game’s removal from Steam and a massive 9-month delay.

ABANDONED game story

After months ofweird trailersandscamming allegations, The Day Before finally launched in early access on December 7th, and it sure has been an interesting release, to say the least.

Lies, Lies, And More Lies

For the past two years, The Day Before has been heavily (and falsely) marketed as an “open-world survival MMO.” But following its release yesterday, fans quickly discovered that this is the furthest thing from an MMO. Many of the negative reviews point out that this is more of an extraction shooter, similar to the likes of Escape From Tarkov, as opposed to an open-world MMO.

Although MMO, which stands for ‘massively multiplayer online game’, can be considered a vague genre to begin with, one thing that a game needs at the bare minimum to qualify as an MMO is a massive amount of players per server. The Day Before certainly does not qualify to be an MMO as many of the reviews indicate that not only do the game’s servers consist of between 10 to 15 people, but it also does not have an open world. Instead, the map is said to be a “small city with barely any buildings to explore,” according to auser review.

A post onX(formerly known as Twitter) was even hit with a community note that read, “The game was falsely advertised for years as a MMO Survival game and is an extraction shooter. The game’s Steam page, as linked in the original post clearly states this.”

Others believe that the gameplay footage shown in previous trailers is not an actual representation of the game, which is likely why Fntastic has now removed various trailers from its YouTube channel. In apost on Reddit, one user published a short clip showcasing how unthreatening the zombies in the game are, despite being…well, a zombie game.

The Day Before

Second Wind’sNick Calandrawas the first to notice the removal of trailers, with a massive 16 videos being removed from Fntastic’s YouTube channel. Although it’s unclear why the studio opted to suddenly remove the videos, it’s certainly not boding well for what was one of Steam’s most wish-listed games.

A wild but plausible fan theory suggests the GTA 6 trailer is better watched in reverse.
