The Batman- Part IIhas engaged the intrigue of the fandom, given that audiences are keen on figuring out who will be stepping to the plate to take on the Bat of Gotham after the Riddler. Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson have talked about which characters they would like to bring into the Batman Epic Crime Saga, with Reeves re-iterating his commitment to keeping things grounded.

Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne in The Batman

Matt Reeves has revealed thatThe Batman- Part IIwill be heading towards the winter, setting Gotham in a seldom-seen setting. Usually, directors like to set Gotham in summer or spring, such that the gloominess of the city comes through in even the brightest time of the year. However, given the trajectory that The Penguin has set the films on, Batman might be looking to tango with a key villain that fits right into the Batman Epic Crime Saga.

The Batman- Part IIis probably not going to have Mister Freeze

Matt Reevesand Robert Pattinson have talked about the villains that they would like to see in the Batman Epic Crime Saga. On the list, coming straight from Matt Reeves, is Mister Freeze. Given that the character leans towards science fiction, Reeves has no qualms in adapting Freeze with a more grounded approach, such that he fits in the realistic universe that Batman has.

However, there is one other character that could come to haunt Bruce Wayne, andRobert Pattinsonhas expressed his interest in dealing with him on the big screen as well.Calendar Man, who started out with a silly history, has become one of the most menacing villains of the Caped Crusader. Despite Matt Reeves saying that the film is not yet going to touchChristmas or New Year’s Eve, the time of the year seems to be a little too close to not employing the character as the next villain that Rober Pattinson’s Batman faces off against.

The Batman – Part IIdoes not need to depict Christmas or New Year to employ Calendar Man

While doingThe Long Halloweenstoryline in the Batman Epic Crime Saga makes more sense, given the aesthetics that were seen inThe Batman, there really does not need to be an actual holiday for Calendar Man to come into play. The Batman- Part IIis set to take place mere weeks after the ending of the first film, which chose to depict The Riddler as a domestic terrorist inspired by Batman himself.

Given the realistic approach that Matt Reeves has taken with the universe, it can be reasonably assumed that any crimes that need to happen on holidays will need Calendar Man to prepare weeks in advance. Gotham Polic Commissioner Gordan could employ Batman as a precautionary measure to bring down Calendar Man, who could be building to something big, that Batman needs to thwart before Christmas. Further, the character is known to commit crimes on significant days as well, which are not necessarily holidays.

The Batmancan be streamed on Max.

The Penguinbegins streaming on Max on July 16, 2025.
