However, who’s fault is it really that we are yet to see a follow-up to one of the best PlayStation exclusives ever? It’s a game that shook the world of gaming at the time and is still recommended to any gamer who is looking forward to stepping into the world of Souls games.

Sony Executive Comments on Why There Is No Bloodborne Sequel

Fans of the Souls genre have looked up to both the parties behindBloodborne, Sony, andFromSoftware, with dreams ofone day getting another installmentin the franchise.KnowingSony, there’s only one way to go about it when it comes to successful IPs:milk it as much as you can. However, it seems like the company is not up for all that work when it comes toBloodborne, a first-party game that is arguably one of the most successful exclusives ever. Further comments by Shuhei Yoshida, the former president of Sony Interactive Entertainment viaKinda Funny Games, reveal a story that now has players giving up any dreams they hold forBloodborne2.

You know [Miyazaki] really really loved Bloodborne, you know, what he created. So I think he is interested, be he is so successful and so busy, so he doesn’t want, he cannot do it himself, but he does not want anyone else to touch it.

Yoshida also clarified how this remains his personal theory and that thePlayStationteam respects Hidetaka Miyazaki’s wishes. While this throws the ball in FromSoftware’s court when it comes to the question ofwhy a sequel toBloodborneisn’t a reality yet, it has made many fans question if it is even worth it anymore.

Why Bloodborne 2 Won’t Be as Big as It Would Have Been a Few Years Ago

Developed byFromSoftware,Bloodborneintroduced an interesting mix of a gothic theme with the iconic punishing level design found in the games made by the studio, something millions of gamers have waited to see once again in a potential sequel.Unfortunately, the blame for the same not happening just gets passed around; it can be said that the industry has moved on from the trends of the time, with new franchises and video game series now ruling the industry with the help of new innovations and better graphics than before.

Another factor is expectations. A sequel to such an admired game carries immense pressure to deliver. If it fails toexceed or even meet the original’s standards, it risks tarnishing the legacy ofBloodborne. After such a long wait, fans’ expectations might be too high to satisfy.WhileBloodborne 2will always have a dedicated fanbase hoping for its release, the moment of maximum impact has likely passed. The industry has moved on, and so, perhaps, should we.
