TheBreaking Badfinale has gone down in history as one of the best endings to a series—not because it was happy, but because it was good. By the end of the show, all loose ends were tied in a perfect bow, and the character arc paid off in the most painfully magnificent ways possible.

At the same time, even the best things in the world seem to have critics in some corners. One can imagine that there were more than a few people who found the ending of the beloved series to be unsatisfactory or not good enough.
However, it would seem that one of the most controversial but successful names in Hollywood, Oliver Stone, absolutely hated the way that the series ended.

Oliver Stone did not like theBreakingBadfinale
Oliver Stoneis no saint in any way. He has had several questionable allegations over the years and has also said some very interesting things in regard to politics. Being an admirer of figures like Vladimir Putin, he does not have the best reputation in the industry. However, his beliefs do not seem to have had an effect on his success.
He has three Academy Awards to his name and has made some very successful films likeJFK, Platoon, andBorn on the Fourth of July. Considering his success, his words about any project certainly hold a lot of weight. With this in mind, many may be surprised to know what the director had to say aboutBreaking Bad.

While he is certainly a controversial figure, he has also been known for his talent with storytelling as well as a camera. However, the director seemed to seriously dislike the finale of the Bryan Cranston series, as he revealed while speaking to the press (viaForbes).
Oliver Stone found the finale to be comical
Oliver Stone confessed that he found the finale ofBreaking Badto be a joke. He started with a preface that he was not an active watcher of the series. He had tuned in from time to time over the years and ended up watching a brief portion of the finale. With this, he seemed to absolutely dislike the part that he did end up seeing.
There’s too much violence in our movies – and it’s all unreal to me. I don’t know if you saw the denouement [of Breaking Bad], I happen to not watch the series very much, but I happened to tune in and I saw the most ridiculous 15 minutes of a movie – it would be laughed off the screen.

He specifically had a problem with the way that violence was depicted in the series. He mentioned that it was comical just how unreal the scenes felt to him and laughed when he saw what was happening in the series. He even went as far as to say that these fifteen minutes that he saw showed him exactly what was wrong with cinema in today’s day and age.
Nobody could park his car right then and there and could have a machine gun that could go off perfectly and kill all of the bad guys! It would be a joke. It’s only in the movies that you find this kind of fantasy violence. And that’s infected the American culture; you young people believe all of this sh*t!

He mentioned that the violence in movies simply does not feel realistic, and he absolutely hated the way that the beloved series executed its violence. Although some might agree with what Stone said, there is no denying that building such a strong judgment about a series without actually having seen it does not seem fair.
Breaking Badis available for streaming on Netflix.
