If you’ve been keeping up at all in the anime community, you’d know how bizarre the women inChainsaw Manare. Female characters like Makima are terrifying and have a chokehold on everyone, whereas Power is just mostly annoying and brash. There’s a diversity of personalities but all of the women are rather unhinged and interesting, to say the least. It’s clear Tatsuki Fujimoto has a weird obsession with making his female characters rather unreasonable and sometimes intimidating but the reason behind why is actually laughable.

While every mangaka must have some aspects of their lives reflecting in their works, Fujimoto might’ve gone too personal with this one. This might be information no one wanted to know about the mangaka but here we are. His sentiment is truly reflected in the way he writes the women ofChainsaw Man, but it’s good to note he doesn’t exactly endorse the behavior within these storylines.
Fujimoto’s Fetish for Dominant Women in Real Life Bled IntoChainsaw Man
It might be easy to accuseTatsuki Fujimotoof having a fetish for irrational women without any real salt to it but the mangaka exposed himself inan interview. He states:
I also like domineering and irrational women. In college, there was a girl who was mean to me, and then one day at school my bicycle had fallen over. I was wondering what happened, when she said “I knocked your bike over, ha ha ha!” I was so happy.

He self-reported himself as someone who likes being ridiculed by women or at the least, likes women who are a bit unhinged. His real-life instance doesn’t seem like a good encounter with a stranger that could turn into attraction. But still, the mangaka was very into this behavior. This can be observed inChainsaw Manand how the female characters behave.
Tatsuki Fujimoto Used a Heartbreakingly Personal Experience to Make Look Back More Relatable
Power is rather arrogant and annoying. She’s quite delusional in many ways and doesn’t have a care in the world, until her eventual growth allows her to truly care for Denji. Even seemingly innocent characters like Kobeni are actually quite irrational and her paranoia makes her do treacherous things and turn on others randomly. Himeno, whos*xually assaulted Denji, is a severe drunkard who has no control over her addiction. There’s so much material to go on with but it does show a pattern of how Fujimoto loves messy women.
Chainsaw Man:Where Messed Up Women Are Still Worshipped
Despite all of these terrible flaws from the likes of Himeno or Makima, fans ofChainsaw Manare still heavily into these characters. Some characters can be excused for their eventual growth like Kobeni or for being a genuinely flawed person like Reze. But for a groomer like Makima to still be seen as attractive to many fans is quite disturbing.
Chainsaw Man: Did Mads Mikkelsen Inspire One of the Best Characters by Tatsuki Fujimoto?
It’s something to say about the state of someChainsaw Manfans when even the worst crimes will be excused for the sake of looks. They seem oblivious towards how much Denji has been through. More than that, the anime community is notoriously unkind to female characters but they’re the exception. Fans might need to take a more nuanced look at the exploitation of Denji by female characters.
Chainsaw Manis available on Crunchyroll.
