TheHelldivers 2community has successfully managed to defend against the Illuminate’s unexpected attack. An in-game message has confirmed that the Illuminate forces have retreated and any remaining forces will be eradicated using SEAF recon units. This message seemingly confirms that the Illuminate’s invasion is over for now and this means, players can no longer play against this deadly faction.
Many players are disappointed to learn that the Illuminate’s invasion was so short as these players couldn’t get the time to try out these missions. It is certainly disappointing that the invasion was so short since Arrowhead Game Studios has been teasing the faction for months, but players need to stop criticizing Arrowhead because the Illuminate will most probably be back.
Helldivers 2players have found another reason to hate Arrowhead Game Studios
The completion of the latest Major Order has confirmed that the Illuminate has retreated. Their deadly attack on Calypso wiped out a lot of innocent civilians but Helldivers gave them a tough fight and sent them back into hiding, for now. On social media, many players have criticized Arrowhead Game Studios because players can no longer play the Illuminate missions.

The whining and criticism got so annoying that a player had to make a post on the r/helldivers2 subreddit to assure these players. Arrowhead Game Studios wouldn’t add so much fresh content for just three days. Obviously, the studio has planned it out. Players need to understand that this was just the beginning.
Arrowhead had a bad reputation but the recent updates forHelldivers 2have proved that the studio values players’ feedback. Everyone had a great time playing the Illuminate missions, so it’s obvious that they will make a comeback. In fact, it wasconfirmedthat the enemies on Calypso were the Illuminate Vanguard Fleet, so more deadly, stronger Illuminate enemies are yet to be revealed.
What’s next for the Illuminate?
The in-game message revealed that this was a small cell of the Illuminate forces that survived the First Galactic War. These aliens have been hiding for so many years so, it would be strange to assume that they have not been planning their attacks. This was clearly just the first phase as Arrowhead Game Studios didn’t showcase that exciting presentation at The Game Awards for such a short event.

Plus, the introduction of the Illuminate boosted Helldivers 2’s active player count, so adding more of these aliens would definitely benefit the studios and Sony. The Illuminate is no joke as some players were evenstruggling to take out the easiest Illuminate enemies. The response to the Omens of Tyranny update has been positive so it’s obvious that the Illuminate will return. Don’t worry if you couldn’t participate in that attack as they will come back, and will be prepared this time.
