Starfieldtakes place in an era after the destruction of the Earth’s magnetosphere, which has rendered our home planet lifeless. The team atBethesdacrafted a rich backstory for what happened after that, withEarthlings fleeing their home planetto start other colonies. However, one player on Reddit has shot a big hole through the lore surrounding one of the most historical locations in the game.

The underground,Mars-based settlement of New Homesteadwas an early off-Earth colony and plays the role of a popular tourist location in the game, which should be obvious to anyone who has bothered to pay for a tour of the place. One of the more interesting stops on that tour is The Brown Horse Tavern, which is named for the now-extinct animal and is heralded as the oldest restaurant in existence. While you can purchase a variety of food items when visiting The Brown Horse, most of which look like something you’d be able to pick up in a modern-day diner, Reddit user Ansicone posted a video to the platform showing something very curious for a business of its variety — the restaurant has no kitchen.

Indeed, while the employee-only section of The Brown Horse Tavern is equipped with shelving, a sink, and taps for dispensing beverages, there really doens’t seem to be any space dedicated to actually cooking the food served there. That would make serving up some of its delicacies, like patty melts, fried pickles, and pierogies, a pretty difficult task.

How much impact do you really have in Starfield’s galaxy?

Not Getting That Five-Star Review

Some Starfiled players responding to the discovery were amused and took aim at Bethesda for its lack of attention to detail. “The fact that you expect anything at all from this ‘masterpiece (the best game that has ever existed, buy the constellation edition now)’ says a lot about the questioner,” commented Reddit user newyorkslayer.

Several others took the opportunity at knocking The Brown Horse to hailthe superiority of Chunks, the fast food chain in Starfield that serves up cube-shaped foods in several varieties across multiple locations in Starfield, including New Homestead (although you willhave to go to Paradisoto get the special sauce). Another person responding posed an humorous theory about The Brown Horse Tavern’s employees simply grav jumping food directly onto the plates from off-planet locations.

While it may not be the most uplifting discovery for Starfield’s development team, the fact that players are still digging up the game’s secrets and quirks almost five months after its launch can be viewed as a compliment to the massive scope of the game’s galaxy, even it that compliment is a backhanded one.
