Just like so many things inStarfield, the inventory management and navigation can feel super clunky when you are first starting out. Swapping weapons, armor, orjust using a medpackafter taking a few too many shots can feel unruly when you have to go into the Start Menu, select the Inventory, navigate to the right section, and then find the item you need. The entire experience may be disheartening when you are first starting out that you may quicklyfeel yourself growing frustrated.

However, this process is made a lot easier when youintroduce the Favorites menu. Bethesda has been using this feature for quite awhile with their games, and this newest one is no different. It allows you to select certain items to be able to be found mich quicker, which can be a lifesaver when you are in the middle of a firefight and don’t want to spend five minutes sifting through all your belongings. The only issue is that the game doesn’t give you a tutorial when you start, so you will have to learn how it works on your own.
How To Use Favorites Menu
If you are looking to get to creating your custom Favorites Menu, you may start out bygoing into your Inventoryand finding the items that you want to add to the collection. When you have found them in your Inventory, have the cursor over the item, and look along the bottom of the screen. Among these options, you will see a prompt toadd the item to your Favorites. On akeyboard, this prompt will be “B”, and if you are using acontroller, you will use the “Y” button.
Whichever one you use, this will bring up the Favorites wheel, which is broken up into four section, each one corresponding toa different direction: up, down, left, and right. Each of these four sections is split into three different boxes, which means you can assigna total of 12 itemsinto the Favorites Menu.

Once you have chosen the right spot for the item to be assigned, you can access the wheel and item by eitherusing the D-Pad on the controller or pressing and holding “Q” on the keyboardto bring the wheel up in ordinary gameplay. With the wheel up on your screen, just select the item you want to bring out and your character will either use the item or pull it out, depending on what the item is.
It is important to note that if you are looking to remove an item from the Favorites menu, you will have toreplace it with another item. As of the time of writing, you cannot simply take the item off of your Favorites Menu and will need to find a replacement first. Which, you will find yourself quickly having more than enough items to fill your Favorites Menu and more to replace them with. Just pick and choose whatever items are best for you at that moment, and adjust as you continue journeying through the galaxy.
