However, if you’re coming straight from Hazelight’s previous title,It Takes Two, and are expecting a similar level of gameplay difficulty, you may be surprised to learn thatSplit Fictionis a bit more of a challenge.

WhileSplit Fictionwon’t make any lists for being one ofthe hardest games of the year, it can still be tricky at times with an expected proficient level of platforming, some tough bosses, and a fair amount of head-scratching puzzles.
If you and your partner are struggling to make it through the game or have concerns about whether you should even jump into it, Hazelight has thankfully implemented a couple of ways to make the experience more approachable.
In case you’re feeling stuck or unsure of how to beatSplit Fiction, let me show you a couple ofoptions from the accessibility menuthat can help you make more progress.
Reduced Damage Option
If you find yourself dying to enemies and bosses far too often, you might consider taking a look at the “Reduce Enemy Damage” toggle switch in the accessibility menu.
This option is pretty self-explanatory, but the general gist here is that your character’s HP meter will deplete slower with each hit you take from an enemy. This extends to boss fights as well.
If combat and dodging aren’t your strong suits, this could be an option to consider.
What’s genuinelyawesomeabout this option is that Hazelight has gone the extra mile by making this feature a separate menu option for both Mio and Zoe, the main characters ofSplit Fiction.
If both players are struggling and want this feature, then you’ll need to hit the toggle option for both characters in the menu.
If, however, only one player isn’t an experienced gamer or simply prefers a more casual experience, this option can be switched on for one character while remaining off for the other.
This is a great idea, and makes sure that both players are able to have the gameplay experience that best suits them.
Skipping To The Next Checkpoint
For those of you that are extra desperate (or perhaps those of you working on Split Fiction’s very fun platinum trophy), there’s also a option listed as “Allow Skipping To Next Checkpoint.”
Again, this does exactly what it claims to do. From now on, in the pause menu, you’ll be able to jump ahead in the story if necessary.

It’s important to note, however, that this doesnotmove you and your teammate all the way to the next subchapter/story mission.
At most, skipping a checkpoint will only mean you miss out on a few minutes of content that you might be struggling with, so you really can fine-tune the gameplay experience in this way if you opt for this assist.
Personally, I would not recommend using this feature sinceSplit Fictionis such a fun game with plenty of sections that shouldn’t be missed.
But it’s great that Hazelight has included the option just in case someone absolutely needs it and doesn’t want to miss out on the rest of the game just because they’re completely and helplessly stuck.
If you have no other options, the final chapter of Split Fiction is absolutely worth experiencing, so do what you need to do in order to get there.
