The UFC commentator Joe Rogan was asked to speak with Kamala Harris in 2024, back when she was still running as the US Presidential candidate. The podcast was arranged to happen the day after her opponent, Donald Trump, appeared on Rogan’s wildly popular podcast. However, the plans never materialized. Guess why?

Well, apparently Joe Rogan was scheduled to cover the UFC 308 main event—a fight between Ilia Topuria and Max Holloway—on the day Harris and her team wanted to do their interview. So while initially he offered her team different time slots for the podcast, the interview never happened because Harris’ team allegedly denied compromise.
Joe Rogan refused to miss Max Holloway and Ilia Topuria’s fight
UFC is undoubtedly a big deal forJoe Rogan, especially since he has spent years being the ringside regular, bringing the action to life with his commentary. So when the UFC scheduled a blockbuster fight between Max Holloway and Ilia Topuria, Rogan was not about to miss it. Not even for his high-profile podcast interview with Kamala Harris.
Joe Rogan Exposes Kamala Harris’ Team, Says Elon Musk Knew Donald Trump’s Election Results 4 Hours Earlier With His New App
According to Joe Rogan’s recentpodcast, back in 2024 on the same day of the UFC fight, he was scheduled to have an interview with Kamala Harris, just likehe did with her opponentDonald Trump. But, unwilling to skip either of the events, Rogan approached Harris’ team with multiple time slots so as to align the interview and commentary, one after another.
They wanted to do it that Saturday, the day after Trump. I said, ‘I’ll do it, but it has to be at 8:30am’. The reason why was I had a podcast already scheduled that was a live UFC podcast. We do this thing called Fight Companion.

I flew in three of my buddies from California and we were all going to do this podcast together. We had committed to doing this. Like, they were already in town. I can’t just say, ‘No guys I can’t do this awesome thing because I have to interview Kamala Harris’.
Unwilling to miss the epic fight and compromise on his commentary duties, Joe Rogan let his loyalty to the UFC win. However, he admitted to asking Kamala Harris’ team to align with his provided time slot. But sadly, Rogan later revealed how Donald Trump was easier to book, whereas Harris’ team had multiple conditions.

Kamala Harris’ podcast failed after her team allegedly refused to compromise
So it seems that after Joe Rogan tried to negotiate the time slots withKamala Harris‘ team, the former Vice President allegedly refused to compromise. And as mentioned earlier, the UFC 308 main event was too good to skip for Rogan and his friends. So naturally Rogan ditched Harris for the mind-blowing fight between Max Holloway and Ilia Topuria.
It seems like I should to some people, but that’s because you’re in the politics business and I’m an MMA commentator — this is part of my job. I said I would do it, but it has to be like 8:30 in the morning because I have to be done by the time the fights start. That’s reasonable, they didn’t do that either.

It was Ilia Topuria vs Max Holloway. Just so you know for people listening that aren’t UFC fans, that was a gigantic fight. Max Holloway had just beat Justin Gaethje… Ilia Topuria is one of the absolutely best fighters in the world. So, this was a clash of the titans… I’m not going to miss that!
Eventually, things didn’t quite work out between Joe Rogan and Kamala Harris’ team. So, the podcast interview never happened. But for Rogan, when duty calls, you answer—especially when that duty involves watching two of the toughest fighters on the planet go head-to-head. So, the UFC commentator managed to witness the 308 main event where Ilia Topuria emerged victorious after becoming the first fighter to knock out Max Holloway (viaUFC).
