Amid all Sony’s game cancellations this year, we finally have some good news. People Can Fly, the studio behind games such as Bulestorm, Outriders, and Gears of War: Judgment, has announced that it has entered into an agreement with Sony Interactive Interactive Entertainment (SIE) to produce a new game.

The untitled game, codenamed “Project Delta,” is based on Sony’s IP. The fact that Sony has a veteran shooter studio working on one of its IPs is enough to get fans excited.

Gears of War Collection has allegedly been uploaded on the PlayStation Store backend and is set for release in August.

People Can Fly’s Project Delta Could Be Tied To One Of Sony’s Dormant IPs

People Can Fly posted the agreement on the company’swebsite, and it has been machine translated from Polish to English.

The Management Board of PCF Group S.A. with its registered office in Warsaw (the “Company”) hereby informs that on July 10, 2025, the Company concluded a production agreement (Prototype Development Agreement) (the “Production Agreement”) with Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC, with its registered office in San Mateo, California, United States of America (the “Publisher”), regarding cooperation in the production of a prototype of a new video game codenamed Project Delta (the “Product”), based on intellectual property rights belonging to Publisher.

The Production Agreement provides that work on the Product will be carried out in the so-called work-for-hire model, i.e. work performed by the Company as a developer on behalf of and for the Publisher, in return for which the Company will receive an agreed remuneration from the Publisher.

In accordance with the Production Agreement, work on the Product will be divided into stages (milestones). Detailed terms of cooperation between the parties regarding the implementation and payment for subsequent stages (milestones) have been specified in the annex to the Production Agreement (milestone schedule).

The scope and provisions of the Production Agreement do not differ substantially from the provisions of production agreements typically concluded for such projects.

The conclusion of the Production Agreement is in line with the update of the Company’s Strategy and the People Can Fly capital group announced by the Company on 22 July 2025, according to which if attractive opportunities for cooperation with renowned partners in the work-for-hire model arise, the Company will take advantage of them.

While there is nothing to indicate this, the first franchise that popped into my head when I saw this was SOCOM. I mean, People Can Fly’s portfolio indicates the studio’s preference for shooters, and givenSony turned down a pitch for a fourth Resistance game, and the Killzone franchise is developed in-house by Guerrilla Games, SOCOM seems like the logical choice.

There’s also the long-forgotten MAG, but I doubt Sony would want to revive that over something as beloved as the SOCOM series.

SOCOM PS5 Revival Rumored to be in the Cards

SOCOM might be coming back with a new iteration on the PS5 after remaining dormant for nearly a decade.

The last SOCOM game released was SOCOM 4 for the PS3 in 2011. Unfortunately,it didn’t go over well with criticsand fans alike, and soon after, it fizzled out, with multiplayer servers pulled in 2014. Since then, nothing has been heard about the franchise.

Given People Can Fly just entered an agreement with Sony this month, chances are we’re years away from the game seeing the light of day. I wouldn’t be surprised if Project Delta skips the PS5, and was released on the PS6.

People Can Fly is not only working on this game, as the studio is also collaborating with The Coalition for the development ofGears of War: E-Day, the latest entry in the franchise announced last year.

If not SOCOM, what are you hoping Project Delta is? Could it be another entry in the Warhawk series? Perhaps Sony is having PCF reboot the Resistance franchise? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
