The protagonist ofSolo Leveling, Sung Jinwoo, is currently one of the most popular main characters in the history of anime, as he is constantly breaking barriers and has thus attained a lot of fame and recognition. His fame and recognition have also increased in the story, as he has also become quite famous in theSolo Levelingworld.

This is because he has finally attained the S-Rank designation, which has officially revealed his status as the strongest hunter in history. However, before becoming the talk of the town inSolo Leveling,Sung Jinwoo was only an E-Rank hunter, and thus he had little to no friends, except Lee Joohee, the Korean B-Rank healer.
Sung’s relationship with Lee Joohee is one of the most underrated relationships in history, and many fans believe that it was only a desperate attempt at survival. While it is true, there is more than one factor that plays a significant role in the survival of theSolo Levelingprotagonist and Lee Joohee.

Sung Jinwoo’s relationship with Lee Joohee
While Sung Jinwoo has become incredibly powerful now, before attaining the System, he was the weakest hunter inSolo Leveling’shistory and was always getting injured on the job. Naturally, one of his only friends was the Korean B-Rank healer, Lee Joohee, who often accompanied him on the various dungeon missions and saved him from succumbing to death.

Not only that, Sung Jinwoo also offered his help in protecting Lee Joohee against the dangers of the dungeon by putting his life on the line. Thus, their mission helped them develop a friendship with each other, which went on for quite a long time. However, as Sung Jinwoo started growing as a hunter, Lee Joohee decided to retire and move back to her hometown.
This change came after their last mission as a group in the Double Dungeon, which traumatized Lee Jooheeand gave Sung Jinwoo the power to become the strongest inSolo Leveling. It was also revealed that Lee Joohee had some romantic feelings towards Sung Jinwoo, which she also let go of after she saw the next-level growth ofSolo Leveling’sprotagonist.

A deeper insight into Sung Jinwoo and Lee Joohee’s bond
As mentioned above, Sung Jinwoo’s and Lee Joohee’s friendship rose from a need to protect each other and save each other during their missions. Thus, manySolo Levelingfans assumed that it was a transactional relationship that eventually developed into a decent friendship and later on, into love from Lee Joohee’s side.
However, what fans don’t realize is that there were many other unexplored aspects of their friendship that were symbolic in the story and played a major factor in their survival. The first one was the trauma that the two experienced while going on missions in the dangerous dungeons.

Despite that, the two were always kind to each other, which also played a factor in their friendship and most probably resulted in Lee Joohee developing feelings for Sung Jinwoo.
