If you ever thoughtThe Boysneeded an anime,Go! Go! Loser Ranger!is your answer. It’s a hidden gem that is now getting a second season in April 2025, just a year after its first season’s debut. However, the announcement of this unique anime has been wildly overshadowed bySolo Levelingand its own season 2 in January 2025. It’s become somewhat of a competition to get the attention of anime fans at all butGo! Go! Loser Ranger!deserves some love and praise for its incredible concept.

Go! Go! Loser Ranger!

It doesn’t mean thatGo! Go! Loser Ranger!will be completely forgotten due to the release ofSolo Leveling. With a 3-month release gap, there’s plenty of time for the two to shine in the anime community. However,Go! Go! Loser Ranger!definitely deserves a lot more attention than it’s getting at the moment, maybe even more thanSolo Levelingwith how dark and unhinged it can be.

Go! Go! Loser Ranger! Is IfThe BoysMeetPower Rangers

There are several influences directly taken fromThe Boysthat evenKeiichi Sato, the director ofGo! Go! Loser Ranger!has admitted to. Many fans can see the parallels between Homelander and the Red Keeper. The Red Keeper is a parody of the classic Red Ranger we all wanted to be but his true personality is twisted, and violent. He will not hesitate to kill anyone in his path, even his own colleagues.

The main protagonist is a combination of Billy Butcher and Hughie Campbel. Footsoldier D is our 14-year-old protagonist who is deeply insecure and believes himself to be evil but has a good heart. While some fans find his weak nature rather annoying, it does humanize him in a world of fake superheroes. He’s also just a guy you can root for easily against the corrupt villains who are going around being worshipped wrongfully. With a premise like this, it’s hard to see how it got overshadowed bySolo Leveling.

With the popularity ofThe Boysand the nostalgia ofPower Rangers,it is interesting to see Japan’s take on the subversive superhero genre. The protagonists are a lot more intense about taking and delivering “justice” in theseason 2 teaserbut it made it all the more thrilling.
