InThe Beginning After the End,King Grey dies and instead gets reincarnated as Arthur Leywin. He vows to correct his mistakes in his new life, although he’s significantly younger than his past one. The new realm is riddled with magic so he combines his wisdom with his powers to rule more effectively.
Althoughfans might find Arthur and his arc quite boring,The Beginning After the Enddoes make his personality quite distinct from the usual brooding protagonist.The pacing might be slower than the average animebut the progression of the events is smooth and well-written. It’s worth every word.
So why, when it has all these strengths, isRe:Zeroa threat to TurtleMe’s web novel? Subaru Natsuki’s story is very similar to King Grey. They take the isekai genre to another level of intensity.The Beginning After the Endwill always haveRe:Zero’sreputation looming over it.

The key difference that sets them apart, however, is how Arthur and Subaru’s stories play out. Arthur doesn’t take his new life for granted and keeps progressing, getting stronger, with a classic fantasy setting. Subaru, on the other hand, is heavily impacted by the death-loop trope.
TheRe:Zeroprotagonist wasn’t a king in his past life or anything. He was an ordinary kid thrown into a realm filled with political agendas and now he also can rewind time via dying. It would have psychological consequences on anybody.
So is it entirely fair to compare the two series? Probably not, but is it possible that the anime community will do it anyway? Of course.
Solo Levelingisn’t the only manhwa-turned-anime out there
AfterSolo Leveling’srelease and popularity, anime and manhwa fans alikeaccuse other series of being a “copy” of it. It’s an unfair comparison and it already happened withOmniscient Reader’s Viewpoint,which is nothing likeSolo Leveling.
The Beginning After the End, too, is nothing like Chugong’s manhwa, and yet the comparisons mightarise (get it?). However, both of them have brilliant art and intense action that draws fans in.

Both series nails the theme of rebirth in their own unique ways. It’s important not to define them by their rivalry but by the individual strengths of their stories.The Beginning After the Endwill certainly bring back the classic fantasy feel anime fans might be craving.
