Monomi Park has announced via Twitter that Slime Rancher 2 will launch in early access for Xbox Series X|S and PC viaSteamand The Epic Games Store on September 22.

The developers also revealed that the sequel to the acclaimed original Slime Rancher game will remain in early access for a year and a half, meaning the development process will be ongoing until the end of next year. Early access will be an introduction to its immersive story as players will find a big enough world to explore. According to the official statement, all saves will be carried over from the early access period into the full release next year.

More details about the game’s early access status have been provided in the following statement: “Slime Rancher 2 will launch into Early Access with a big world to explore, many different slimes to collect and combine, and an introduction to the game story and the mystery behind Rainbow Island. It should serve as a robust introduction to this new world we’re developing and a great jumping-off point for the features we’ll be adding further into development.”

Monmi Park revealed the main reason for keeping Slime Rancher 2 in early access for nearly 18 months was so that they could follow the same strategy from the original game. This allowed the developers to take on board all community feedback and ensure the game was perfect by the full release. In this way, the development team will have enough time to create new content, improve the player experience, fix some frustrating bugs, and expand its story until the game fully launches. Also, Monomi Park will make this possible by providing enough content to players during the early access period.

Slime Rancher 2 will be the sequel to the beloved original game, which sold more than 15 million copies worldwide. Players will continue their journey as Beatrix LeBeau, while they discover a mysterious island called Rainbow to get natural resources and new slimes. The game tasks players with uncovering the hidden secrets of the island. Players will build, ranch and farm to survive. However, the base premise of the game will be a massive, colorful world, featuring numerous resources that players will use to upgrade their vackpacks.

It is unknown whether or not Slime Rancher 2 will release for PlayStation consoles at this time. You can play the game onXbox Series X|S, and PC via Epic andSteamfrom September 22 when it enters early access.
