Margot Robbie was nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role, but she lost toKillers of the Flower Moon’s Lily Gladstone. The same goes with Ryan Gosling, who received a nod for the male category in a supporting role but he was defeated byOppenheimer’s Robert Downey Jr.

Why IsBarbiePerpetually Being Snubbed?
The continuous snub of Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling yielded speculations among fans that only those films viewed as intellectual or complex are more deserving of awards than those that looked easy on the eyes.
An article fromBBCclaimed that even thoughBarbiereceived a Best Picture nod, “Oscar voters refused to take the toy-based film seriously, ignoring how inventive it is, dismissing it as a billion-dollar popcorn movie.”

America Ferrera once toldVarietythat “people got fooled into thinking that the work seems easy” after Robbie and Gerwig were left out of the Oscars list. The trend of award-giving bodies particularly ignoringBarbieand its lead stars already tells a lot about their preferences.
It remains to be seen howBarbieand the team will fare at the Oscars event, though fans are hoping this time, they will finally receive a win.
