Unlikeother Roblox horror games, Scotomaphobia lets you roam freely through its sprawling levels. Even so, there’s an optimal path for clearing every section quickly with fewer deaths. Follow this guide for each step in beating the first two layers of Scotomaphobia.
The first layer of Scotomaphobia takes place at the top of the mountain. To the right is a small graveyard, and to the left is a house. Following the central path takes you to the entrance of the mountain, but it is blocked off with wooden planks. to beat Layer One, you’ll need to find an axe and chop down these planks. Finding the axe requires exploring every section of Layer One, so follow each step closely.

When you first spawn in Scotomaphobia, turn around and climb to the bridge at the back left corner of the map. Pick up the trowel at the end of the bridge, then head to the graveyard. The graveyard contains two rows of headstones, each one labeled with a number.Find the grave marked #24, then dig it up using the trowel. You’ll receive a silver key, which you’ll need to unlock the house.
Make your way to the house, and open the door using the key. Inside, you’ll find an axe jutting out from the table. Grab the axe, then head to the entrance of the mountain and chop down the wooden planks. Head inside and ride the elevator down to Layer Two.

The second layer of Scotomaphobia is much larger than the first, with more difficult puzzles and enemies to evade. After arriving at Layer Two, you’ll need to cross a large chasm by jumping onto stone pillars. You’ll see a lot of glowing fire pits as you make your way across;stay close to the fires, or an enemy called The Elder will appear on your screen and kill you. You’ll know the Elder is coming when you see black hands start to cover your screen. If you stay in the dark for too long, you’ll have to start over at the elevator.
Once you make it across the chasm, you’ll see a glowing white gateway. This is the entrance to Layer Three, but you can’t enter just yet. Next to the gateway is an empty fire pit. Interact with the fire pit, and a blue flame will appear. These blue flames act as checkpoints in Layer Two, and allow you to teleport around the map. Be sure to light each one of these checkpoints as you go! Finally, touch the glowing silver ball sitting on the ground. These are crystals, and you’ll need to collect all of them in order to open the gate.

Guidance is the first puzzle in Layer Two. Head left from the gate and jump across the pillars until you reach the cliff wall. Walk along the wall until you reach the end where you’re able to climb up. You’ll need to make a few jumps, but you should eventually reach a small cave with a note on the outside.
It’s much easier to walk along the narrow cliff wall with your Shift Lock Switch set to “On.” You can activate this feature in Roblox’s settings.

Head inside the cave, where you’ll find a radio sitting next to a map of a maze. Someone will start speaking through the radio, asking you to help guide them through the maze. They can’t see, but they can tell you how many walls are around them, and if there are any walls in front of them. You’ll need to direct them by saying “forward” or “backward” to get them to move, and “right” or “left” to get them to turn 90 degrees.Their starting location is random, so it’s up to you to use the information they give you to help them out of the maze.If they tell you there are two walls around them, it probably means they’re in a corner or hallway. If there are three walls, then they’re most likely at a dead end.
Once they’re out of the maze, a gate will open on the left side of the cave. This section of Layer Two is mostly water, and you need to keep an eye out for a green shape swimming under the surface. Like the Elder, you’ll die instantly if you get caught, sostick to land until it swims away.Eventually, you’ll reach a large pool of water with a bridge on the opposite side. Head to the bridge, andpick up the torch lying on the ground.you may use this torch to keep the Elder away, so make sure you always have it on hand.

Cross the bridge, then turn right when you reach the fire pit. Climb up the cliff until you reach a small gap in the wall. Head through, and you’ll find yourself on the shoulder of a giant statue.Grab the crystal in its hand, then jump down onto the bridge. From here, you can make your way to the next puzzle.
From the bridge, you should be able to see a group of tents sitting under a glowing cloud. Jump down, then interact with the first tent on your right. The creature inside, which bears a resemblance to some ofthe entities from DOORS, will ask you to sort out a story from its childhood that it can’t seem to remember. Next to the tent, you’ll find a chart with characters, places, and seasons from the story. Your goal is to assign each character to their correct season and location.
Speaking to the creatures in the other tents will reveal vague details about the story. you’re able to find the correct configuration for the chart pictured above, but here’s the solution based on their information:the Hero was in the castle during winter, the Seer was in the dungeon during spring, the Dragon was in the graveyard during autumn, and the villain was in the tavern during summer.Once you’ve got the chart filled out, speak to the creature again, and he’ll give you the third crystal.

To the right of the tents is a small series of pillars. Jump across them to reach the Temple; it will be dark when you first enter, but keep walking and glowing lights will soon appear. In front of the altar is another crystal. Grab it, then head back to the Hub.
Ascent is another simple platforming challenge. Head back to the gate (or teleport there using the blue fire pit), then make your way across the same pillars you used to get to Guidance. Instead of keeping to the cliff wall, though, head forward toward the old tower. The next crystal is at the top, but the stairs inside are broken. First, climb them as high as you may, then jump forward onto the gap in the wall. From here, you should be able to climb around and reach the opposite wall of the tower. Head up the steps and you’ll reach the top.
Trial By Fire
On the left side of the Hub is a small path leading to a blue fire pit. Turn right and keep moving until you see your screen turn red.Put your torch away and start jumping up the pillars until it stops.Of course, the Elder will quickly close in on you until you pull your torch back out. You’ll need to alternate between light and dark as you make your way up the pillars. Keeping your torch out for too long will kill you, but there are no fire pits to keep the Elder at bay either. Luckily, the red screen will increase your visibility, allowing you to see the path ahead without your torch.
Once you get to the top of the cliff, head for the path on your left. Below, you’ll see a single fire pit. Jump down, then use the moss to climb onto a new section of the cliff. From here, you should be able to jump across the pillars safely. Keep going until you reach a small platform with another fire pit on top. You’ll find another crystal here, along with a blue fire pit to teleport you back to the gate.
Head right from the gate and jump across the pillars until you reach the entrance to another cave. You should pass by a forest on your left. When you enter the cave, you’ll find four shards on the ground pointing north, south, east, and west. There are also four corresponding paths for you to take, and you’ll need to take the right ones to get the final crystal. Without knowing the right way to go, this section becomes nothing but adark and confusing maze. The correct sequence is as follows: east, north, south, south, north, west. You should enter a small room with the final crystal inside, as well as a blue fire pit.
The red shard always points north. you may use it to orient yourself as you move through the cave.
Use the blue fire pit to teleport back to the gate. The crystals will spin in the air until the white glow disappears, allowing you to head inside. You’ll find a room with four beds, some furniture, and a bunch of crates stacked in one corner. On the right wall is a conspicuous, square-shaped light. Interact with it, and a message will appear: “This button seems out of place.” Interact with it again, and the room will descend into Layer 3.
