That’s right, Downey Jr. may very well make a comeback as the world-famous detective, and his wife, Susan Downey Jr. most certainly has her fingers crossed for it.

Much like Iron Man – a character that continues to live in fans’ hearts to this very date – Arthur Conan Doyle’s eminent creation of Sherlock Holmes is inarguably one of a kind. And when someone as gifted as Robert Downey Jr. takes on the character, well, that’s one surefire way to leave an indelible mark on the audience.
15 years ago,Wrath of Manfilmmaker Guy Ritchie introduced the world to the dynamic duo of Downey Jr.’s Sherlock and Jude Law’s Dr. Watson in not one but two spectacularly thrilling movies. Now, as Ritchie works to bring a young Sherlock in a prequel, Susan Downey Jr., in an interview withScreen Rant, was asked about a third potential Sherlock Holmes film.
While she didn’t have any concrete updates to satiate fans, she did admit wanting to see theOppenheimerstar and theFantastic Beastsactor together in the $1 billion franchise again (viaThe Numbers).
“I mean, look, no, there’s no update, other than it’s still very much alive in our hearts. Every day we talk about, ‘What is the best next version of that?’ Because anytime I see Robert and Jude together, which fortunately, I do get to see a few times a year, we hang out, and I’m just like, ‘Can I get these guys back on screen together?’, it’s magic. There needs to be a really strong reason, it needs to be a great story, and we do have some things in the works.”
