Return To Silent Hill, the upcoming live-action film adaptation of Konami’s renowned horror video game franchiseSilent Hill, has cast actors Jeremy Irvine and Hannah Emily Anderson in the lead roles ofJames Sunderlandand Mary, according to a report from entertainment industry insiderDeadline.
First announced during Konami’sSilent Hill Transmission live streambroadcast last year, Return To Silent Hill will be based on Silent Hill 2, which was first released on the PlayStation 2 in 2001. DeveloperBloober Teamis currently working on aSilent Hill 2 remakeforPlayStation 5 and PC.

Prior to being formally revealed by Konami during the Silent Hill Transmission live stream, the Silent Hill 2 remake was informallyannouncedby director Christophe Gans, who not only directed the first Silent Hill film adaptation released in 2006 (also titled Silent Hill), but who is also set to direct the upcoming feature. According to Deadline’s source, filming for Return To Silent Hill will begin in Eastern Europe and Germany this coming April.
Return To Silent Hill traces the story ofJames Sunderland, played by Jeremy Irvine, as he struggles with being separated from his wife, Mary (Anderson). Returning to the town of Silent Hill in search of his wife, led only by a strange letter, James discovers that the run-down, unassuming town is not the one he remembers. This is a den of evil, evil which James must contend with all while keeping as strong a hold on his own sanity as he can humanly keep.
Previously, Jeremy Irvine starred in the war epic War Horse and the 2012 feature-length adaptation of Charles Dickens' Great Expectations. Hannah Emily Anderson is best known for her portrayal of Eleanor Bonneville in the 2017 horror film Jigsaw, which is the eighth film in the Saw series.
Return To Silent Hill will also feature Silent Hill’s iconic creaturePyramid Head, who, despite making a notable appearance in the first Silent Hill film, was conspicuously missing from its 2012 sequel, Silent Hill: Revelation (not directed by Gans). Return To Silent Hill is expected to release in 2023.
