In anew interviewwith DualShockers,Cyberpunk 2077’s lead quest designer, and now associate director for its upcoming sequel, said he believes that the game’s redemption arc makes Cyberpunk 2077 CD Projekt Red’s biggest achievement.
When it first launched in 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 received mixed reviews from critics. While the story, visuals, and gameplay were all praised, it was the ludicrous number of bugs and glitches that ruined the game’s launch. These bugs were present on all platforms, but it was the last generation of consoles where performance issues were most prevalent.

“Culture shouldn’t exist only for those who can afford it,”
In fact, these issues were so prevalent that the game was completely removed from the PlayStation Store and refunds issued. But, after four years of hard work and dedication,Cyberpunk 2077 now sits at “overwhelmingly positive” on Steam. Here at DualShockers, we even consider it to be one of thebest RPGs of all time.

Cyberpunk 2077 Is CD Projekt Red’s “Biggest Achievement”
During our interview with Cyberpunk 2077’s lead quest designer, Pawel Sasko, we asked the developer if he believed the game’s redemption arc made it CD Projekt Red’s biggest achievement. While Cyberpunk 2077 is now considered to be an all-time great, it isn’t the first time the studio has found monumental success.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, another gigantic RPG developed and published by CD Projekt Red, is often considered to be one of the greatest RPGs of all time. The title even won the coveted ‘Game of The Year’ award at 2015’s The Game Awards. But when compared to 4 years of hard work and dedication post-launch, does Cyberpunk 2077’s redemption outweigh that of The Witcher 3’s success? Pawel Sasko thinks so.

“I would say it was definitely the hardest-earned achievement we have,” Sasko said. “Me personally, I am a Cyberpunk person. I enjoy the IP a bit more than The Witcher, even though I love both of them. But I think from my personal perspective, I do feel it’s a bigger achievement. Also just because of how incredibly difficult it was.”
Sasko would go on to note that if Cyberpunk 2077 was how it is now at launch, he could “maybe feel like The Witcher was a bigger achievement.” But, due to the uphill battle that it took to rectify the game’s issues, “it does feel like a bigger achievement.”
