Ralph Fiennes, Stanly Tucci, and John Lithgow have all had very storied careers, andConclavebrings these three legends together like never before. Among many of the things that the trio talked about with The Guardian, Fiennes gave his two cents about the election of Donald Trump to the President’s Office.

Donald Trump’s election was a major upset for a lot of Hollywood institutions, a slew of which had endorsed his opponent, the Democrat candidate Kamala Harris. Fiennes’s thesis about the President-elect winning took a deeper look into what his campaign said to the people.
Ralph Fiennes believes Trump is a great storyteller
Speaking withThe Guardianabout why he believes Donald Trump won the election, Fiennes had a very interesting thought about the whole situation. According to the actor:
I think it comes back to a story and how it’s put out. Trump told a story. The way he described the problem with America and what he could do, was a story. He has a remarkable gift for talking and accessing people’s deeper gut feelings. And the story in its simplicity appealed.Whatever you think of the horror of the language and the racism and sexism that we all identify on the liberal side, it speaks to people. He’s the man in the bar who says: “I’ll get rid of this shit. We’ll make your lives better.” His win was a visceral response to a man saying: “I’m going to sort it for you.” Basically, his story won.

Donald Trumphad a great run as the Presidential candidate, winning the popular vote from the people of the United States. Fiennes believes that the people of the United States believed that Trump could fix the problems that they are facing.
This was because of how he framed the issues that he wanted to solve, which resonated with a to of people, leading to his victory. What he was able to do was tap into the familiar issues that the average American saw, and address them in a manner that gave the people the confidence to vote for the Republican candidate.

Ralph Fiennes believed that the Democrats were viewed unfavorably in the election
Ralph Fiennesbelieved that the perception of how the Democrats ran the election was the reason why they lost it, to begin with. There was a perception that the party was largely viewed as ‘elitist’, which lost them the presidency and the popular vote. He said:
It’s not my country, but it seems to me that the Democrats were increasingly perceived as a sort of removed elite. Theirs wasn’t a story that I think was put across very strongly. Trump told the best story, whether you like it or not.

Fiennes was able to figure out why the Democratic party lost the popular vote this election cycle. Largely attributed to the fact that the party was immensely removed from the people that it was trying to serve, the election largely came down to the story that Trump tried to tell, which worked out brilliantly for him.
The actor is expected to be nominated for an Academy Award for the third time, given that he has already been nominated forThe English ParentandSchindler’s List.Conclavehas already received a lot of great reviews, given that the actor has managed to create something brilliant with his co-stars, all of whom bring their A-game to the film.
