Nintendo Direct hosted some surprising announcements today, but a new trailer from Raincode was a real surprise, especially for Danganronpa fans. Coming from the team that brought us the Danagnronpa series, Master Detective Archives: Raincode is a detective adventure set in a futuristic setting combined with dark fantasy.

Raincode will send you to the city of Perpetual Rain, a metropolis that is ruled by highly corrupted corporations, and as you’re able to guess, there are many murders and criminal activities going on in this home of skyscrapers. As a result, there are many murder cases in the city remaining unsloved, and that’s where you step into the game.

As a Master Detective, you will meet number of colleagues from around the world who have arrived earlier than you to the city of Perpetual Rain to solve these mysteries. You will need to unite with other Master Detectives and solve the cases one after another.

In your adventure, you will be accompanied by a cute ghost as your assistant, and an otherworldly human being “Shinigami” who will company you in the boss fights.

The game features turn-based JRPG battles similar to the Persona franchise, and you will get to use the abilities of Shinigami as well as your own character in battles.

Each realm that you step into will have unique puzzles and gameplay elements. Also, as the trailer reveals, you will need to make decisions at some points in the game.
